HSV-2 Positive, but is this normal?

I am frustrated. It took me a long time to be diagnosed with HSV-2. I was tested after an ex-partner said she had come up positive via swab test after a small outbreak (three canker sore-looking lesions) on her labia. I have definitive WB results in hand.

She felt it was I who infected her, which is possible. But I have never had the classic outbreak.  So, now that I am positive, I wonder about my outbreak status... as in is this an outbreak or what? It's frustrating because I want to be as responsible as possible when dealing with future partners.

I get red spots on the head of my penis after friction but they seem to go away after 2 days to a week or so. I have very sensitive skin otherwise and have always figured must be the same for all my parts and never really thought much about it. I have had some scaling, but it was very similar to a patch of psoriasis that's on my pubic region. It goes like this: friction, red bumps on penis head only, no irritation or pain, then they go away, sometimes a bit of dry skin is left, sometimes not. However, the spots never really "leave" and are never quite in the same place, though that has happened, too. I have also had similar spots for a long time even before I had several different partners and was married (I know that doesn't mean much with herpes transmission). So, when I had unprotected sex or masturbated I would get these similar spots and red patches way back when I was almost assuredly negative.

Are these herpes sores? Will I ever know for sure if I have a herpes sore or outbreak? Do people have constant, continuous outbreaks? Is that possible?

No I don't recommend looking online to do this. the only site I know of that offers it charges $150 for one swab which is absolutely ridiculous!

if these are fleeting, odds are they aren't herpes related anyways.

Can I order that online? Any reliable sites you recommend? I would like to be able to do that at home, if it isn't too complicated, as sometimes these things are fleeting and I am always so damn busy.

these don' t really sound like herpes going on from the way you describe them.  Only thing to do is to try to be seen when you have them and get them looked at and cultured. Might even want to ask for the supplies to have at home to do your own pcr swabs.
