HSV 1/2 PCR DNA TEST Negative WITH OUTBREAKS


I was positive for both herpes hsv igg tests.  i took a protocol for a few months then they said to take an HSV 1/2 PCR DNA TESTS. They were negative. I still have bad outbreaks. can someone explain this, and why do protocols say take this specific test?
