HSV 2 Orally acquired???

I find myself in a regrettable situation. I am posting to you just to put this to rest once and for all, so please forgive me for pestering, but I am scared.

I had a very low risk exposure on April 1st where I licked a guy's scrotum and butt cheeks for about 2 minutes, maybe less. He said he had no std's. I did not observe any obvious sores, but I suppose I could have missed them, however unlikley.

Since this exposure, I have had some vague and very minor symptoms that are likely coincidence and  not related to herpes, but because herpes symptoms can be mild and can vary a bit, from what I have read online, I still have some concern for this reason only.

I have had what I beleive is a pimple in the corner of my mouth between the bottom and top lip. It started 11 days after exposure. It did not look like a herpes blister as it was not fluid filled, did not erupt or scab over and was never ever painful. It has mostly resolved and there is a faint sign of it. Similarly, I had a small red mark of sorts on the opposite corner of my mouth. Certainly does not look like a herpes blister and not painful.

Intermittently, I have had what I would describe as a small abrasion on the front of my tongue. It comes and goes. Certainly not a sore or blister. I rationalized it was from frequently putting my tongue inside of a tooth that recently lost a filling.

All vague symptoms that really do not sound like herpes. Additionally, I know from this web site that hsv 2 acquired orally is very rare.

I am concerned about transmitting it to my kids from sharing utensils or food. I feel like a diseased monster now.
I am cocerned that I used my saliva on my genitals recently.
I am concerned about being intimate with my wife as I have refrained since the exposure.

Can you help me close this chapter by reinforcing the unlikelihood of hsv 2 transmissiion to the mouth, and the symptoms not looking like herpes, particularly infecting the tongue? Please help me.

Hi Buddy,
I haven't seen you online again, I am hoping that all is well on your end!!
I am still having my share of ups and downs with worry!!  I am still somewhat scared of being too close to the babies.  I've noticed some irritation in both corners of my mouth and am now becoming increasingly concerned about this.
Anyhow, I hope you are doing well.
I appreciate the strength and optimism you provided me through this awful experience.
Thank you so much.
Drop me a line on here anytime, i'm still around trying to get through.

Dan, if you do want to get tested, you should wait 4 months from the contact to do that.  Blood blisters are not a concern, they are not herpes related.

Again, your experience was very low risk and I am not worried about your physical health with the situation.

I''m glad you are getting some peace of mind and are getting counseling for these concerns.

I do have a specific question regarding what I would call blood blister on the inside of my cheek. I had mentioned that I had 2 blood blisters about 15 days after exposure. I noticed one this morning 25 days after exposure. I am far from a panic because I don't expect this is herpetic. There is no prodome, it is fairly flat and small with absolutely no pain. It does not look like a lesion or canker sore in any way and has no characteristics of herpes. It also aligns with the top of where my bottom molar is. I know I have noticed these on occasion and never thought much about them. Perhaps it is cheek biting or stress? I may have had many of these in the past and never notices them before because they are small and painless.

My stress level has fallen from a 10 down to a 1 and I had a pretty enjoyable herpes worry free weekend because of your advice. This is just a minor concern, and I don't expect this is herpes for those reasons.

Have you any thoughts on this?

Terry,

If I did decide to get tested, how long should I wait? I don't know if I will or not or if I even should. He said he did not have any std's but he may not know for sure? If I did get tested, I only want to get tested once as I cannot relive the emotional trauma again and again with multiple tests. Would I be looking for hsv 2? or hsv 1 from this exposure? I found an anonymus online test that I might consider.

In terms of relations with my wife, is it correct that my genitals cannot pass the virus to her genitals from this exposure? Is semenal fluid a concern? Should I be concerned with my mouth contacting her mouth or genitals?

Thanks very much. I feel better and I don't obsess any longer. I think about less each day.

I agree that this exposures are incredibly low risk and your symptoms are not typical, in any way, of herpes.  I hope this helps and that you find a place to feel comfortable in your heart.

Not sure if that helps you but it is a very low risk activity and I truly wish you the best.

To begin, thank you very much for your educated reassurance. It means a great deal to me, as well as from Grace and Vance in the community. I probably drove them crazy and they were very wonderful.

I have never had an experience with a prostitute. This exposure was with a male stranger I met at an adult bookstore. I have had three such experiences in the previous twelve months and none for years prior to that. I kept my risk to a minimum all three times with recieving very brief fellatio the first time, and performing very brief scrotum licking the second and current time. I consider these about as much risk, albeit very low risk, as I can tolerate. I cannot even tolerate this risk, as you can see. All three occurance resulted in frequent panic/anxiety attacks with unrelated symptoms that fueled the panic. It was this site and Dr. H and yourself that brought me back down.

It is 22 days since this recent exposure, and I am completely emotionally drained from worry, guilt, lack of sleep and proper nutrition. I want to live again and I believe your reply will facilitate that now.

While this is not relevent to this forum, I have used this experience to become reborn. I inquired in the community about seeking counceling and where I might find it. This is the counceling I needed and I feel wonderful again. Therefore, no more of this behavior for me!

Now that I am 22 days out from exposure, is it safe for me to discount any other symptoms like thinking I feel a tingle or see a pimple coming back? This is the most important question. I read where Dr. H. had said in a response to someone that typically symptoms would appear in 3-5 days and certainly a week without lesions means you should be good.  These pimples opccured after 11 days and the tongue appears to be maybe GT and/or fissures. I researched extensively.

I also had 2 blood blisters on the inside of my cheek maybe 15 days after the exposure. I completely forgot about it because i have had that maybe 3 or 4 times before in my life. No pain as it appeared out of nowhere and disappreared just as quickly. They have a small mark remaining but appear nearly healed with no pain whatsoever. They correlate exactly to my molars such as I bit my cheek and didn't realize.

Again, thans for your reassurance. I will be taking my life back starting today. Any further reassurance will be greatly appreciated and will help me. God Bless!

I am happy to reassure you that this encounter is almost no risk, and that nothing that you describe in your symptoms sounds anything like oral herpes or HSV 2 orally.  I can also reassure you that oral HSV 2 is a rare event.

I believe that what might be happening is that your experience might be so far out of the normal behavior that you expect from yourself that you are noticing all things about the body parts that were involved in this encounter.

The symptoms on your tongue are not worrisome to me.  I don't feel that you are a risk to your children nor a diseased monster.

You could always get a herpes IgG antibody test at some point.  Is this your first prostitute encounter?

Hi Dan
Its so interesting that I found your posting, as I have recently had an almost identical experience.  I did something stupid.  I met a guy online and sucked on his scrotum for about 1-2minutes in total.  There were also no obvious signs of sores or lesions of any kind on his scrotum.  However just a couple of days later I noticed that I had many small red spots along the top of my mouth (on the hard palate) towards the back of my mouth.  They have been there now for 3 days, but there are no ulcers and eruptions (yet) and there is no pain either.  My concern is also, could I have become infected with HSV 2 to my mouth through this experience AND is the symptom I am experiencing indicative of oral herpes infection?  Any advice or help would be wonderful - please help us both!!
