HSV 2 igg 2.55

Hi i am a 23 year old female and recently got blood work done and my results came back HSV1   <.91 and HSV 11  2.55. This does not make sense to me as my hsv1 test is low and i am almost positive i have had cold sores before. I have also never noticed any major symptoms "down there" other than an occasional bump on my perrineum that has been diagnosed as a swollen/irritated lymph gland.  So to me it is confusing and I feel horrible if i passed this on to the guy i recently dated.  I am sure I probably have been exposed to HSV2 in the past, as it is very common and like 1 out of 6 people have it, especially since I was in college and stds run rampid in the college community. But my question is should I retest? I was reading online that my igg values are fairly low and anything under a 3.5 or 3.0 has a chance of being a false positive.  The nurse that I talked to didn't seem that comforting, she just said "well, I am looking at the results now, and it says you have it." Nothing like, "you should get a retest just to make certain." I know that if I am positive I will just have to accept it but the fact that I have not noticed "an outbreak" does not make sense to me, as I have a few friends that have it and they had sores all OVER their genitals during their first outbreak. Should I retest? and use Biokit or something else? thank you! xo

First you need to confirm your status.  Once you know your status then you can decide if you want to treat it or not and how.

No, there aren't any cures for herpes in other countries either at this point and time.

they say if you have an outbreak it's almost definate you will catch it. but for people that dont have outbreaks the risk is low but u still can pass it w no signs or symptoms. w shedding it only happens like 20 days or so out of the whole year (very low risk compared to having lesions).i'm not absolutley 100% sure about the whole medication thing but they say w shedding it really dosent limit how/when shedding happens but i'm quite sure it is effective at lowering ur risk of transmitting it (but i wonder is it most effective if you have lesions to reduce ob's).i know w some partners (one w hsv and the other negative) the they would both would take valtrex etc.. to lower the risk of transmission. i dont know if that really helps.i have to research some more interesting

Thank you...i read the chances of spreading it when you have no outbreaks are low.  So if I DO have it I hope I did not spread it on to my last partner..we only had unprotected sex about 8 times and there was nothing "down there". Do you think that is a low risk?
Also if i do have it is it pointless to get on Valtrex if I am not having outbreaks or does it reduce my chances of "shedding" when i am intimate with someone?
My friend did research and found that there is actually a cure for herpes but it is in another country (forget where) and that it is not FDA approved in the US.  Probably because this country generates millions from herpes, with valtrex and all that.

dont worry 2 much (Thank God its not "presently" down there well at least thas wha i'm saying after the same problem going on month 3 and no symptoms) there are at least ten cases or more like ours on here most/all w numbers under 3.5 (some were even telling me 3.0) turn out to be false positives. one problem is that no one uses conformation testing if there are no present symptoms (if no lesions present to do culture or pcr)-maybe that is y its spreading so fast (w no symptoms) and its not a routune std check up unless requested. use a conformation test like a rapid assays, allisa (i dont recomend using "alone" which everyone uses that is what hopefully gave me hopefully a low false positive 2) immunoblot, inhibition and western blot to confirm. doctors shouldnt be testing/diagnosing people if they are not going to read the results correctly, use appropiate tests(conformation testing needs sometimes 2-3 different tests) etc.. to make a correct/more accurate diagnosis. hope that helps

yes your hsv2 igg needs confirmed with further testing since it's a low positive.
