HSV from straw?

Hello, I've been reading excessively on this forum and on Terri Warren's site. I drank from a straw from someone I didn't really know accidentally. Her boyfriend is notoriously promiscuous. Anyway, I didn't see anything obvious on her mouth but wasn't intently looking. What is my risk? My lips feel chapped and burning now almost two days later but I feel that's just paranoia and licking my lips. I was negative for HSV-1 less than a month ago.

It will only live for a few minutes. The reason lipstick and lip balm like chapstick can spread hsv1 is because most times you see someone use it and then ask to borrow it.you also rub it into the lips and that's exactly what the virus needs.
In your case again is zero risk as like I said the virus is very fragile and won't live long once exposed.

There are no Dr's on these forums. The moderators and fleetwood20 are just people with a great deal of knowledge on the subject. Again you had no risk . If she had an open cold sore at the time (which would be obvious) your chances would still be very very small. You do not have to worry about either you or your boyfriend.

Hi, I have another question for you. How long does HSV-1 live on lipstick/balm? I have read that you can get it from them but is it typically if you use it right after the person with HSV-1? I used my sister's lipstick a couple months ago. Wiped it off with a piece of paper first I believe. She hadn't used the lipstick in a few months she said. Is there a risk here? Does it change if I hadn't wiped it off. Sorry, paranoid.

Never got any symptoms.

and I also don't need to worry about autoinoculation or anything along those lines since there was no risk of transmission? or about passing to my BF anywhere?

Even if she was having an outbreak? Also, not to be rude, but what are your credentials on this site? I see doctors commenting on things but also random people.

Zero risk. You can move on without concern.
