Possible hsv 2 contraction

Hello. I am 23 yr old male had unprotected oral and protected vaginal sex with prostitute in early Jan. week and a half later had burning upon urination and frequency to do so. Saw a doc he gave me two day zithromax, didn't work. Saw another doc about 5 days later he ran std panel and urine for clam and gon, both neg. checked prostate n gave me doxycycline for 10 days. No help. Saw urologist at 4 weeks exposure. Tested me for syphilis HIV and herpes. All neg. however herpes was a pcr blood test and showed I don't have either hsv 1 one 2 but I get cold sores all the time. At 6 weeks post exposure he ran igg antibody for hsv 2 and igm blood test as well. I've been on the net constantly since these symptoms have occurred looking for answers, read about a billion forums. My symptoms now are slight burn during urination, frequency to do so, redness from tip to bad of glans, not sure if it's always been there but it's irritated but hasn't evolved into blisters or anything for a month. Also I little pressure above pubic region. I guess I would just like to know the chances I got hsv 2 from a one time encounter worth case scenario is if she was hsv 2 positive which I am not sure of her status but I got ahold of her and she said she's clean.

Hey doc one more question as I had spoke with my urologist and he informed me that the igm test he performed was positive but I don't know those numbers. The igg hsv 1 was pos as I said before and the igg hsv 2 was neg. I've heard the igm is not very trustworthy but what are the chances the igm was pos due to a recurrent hsv 1 outbreak bc 6 days after my test I did develop a tiny cold sore on my lip. Also my symptoms have been ongoing for 5 weeks now, do herpes initial symptoms last that long in healthy young men? Thanks again terri

I am now just wondering what could possibly be giving me these symptoms. They arent really any worse but nor are they any better. Its been just over a month now. Im not sure how many stds have symptoms lasting this long and i am in dire need of figuring out what is going on. Any advice would certainly help

Yes, a person who is HSV 1 positive will take slightly longer to become positive for HSV 2.  But your HSV 2 result is really very very low and I don't see any trend toward positivity.  There is a 70% chance this value will stay the same as it is now.  And actually, I think it is even stronger, given your circumstances and your lack of usual herpes symptoms.

Also I still have these symptoms of irritation below the penile opening, off and on burning urination kind of a splatter effect as well. Basically my stuff is uncomfortable. My urine has a funky smell and it feels like there is something in the urethra. The urologist says it's nothing but something is definitely making me uncomfortable down there. I've never had issues like this when it comes to going to the bathroom and having my stuff in such discomfort.
Again any ideas would help me at this point.

Okay Terri the results were in at 6 weeks.
Igg for hsv 1- 24.2 -- no worries as I do get cold sores all the time
Igg for hsv 2 0.06 negative
Now I have a couple questions
Because I am hsv 1 positive does it take longer for hsv 2 antibodies to show up? And in your experience how often do small hsv 2 numbers like mine go up with time? I realize nobody gets a 0.0 for these tests because of they way it is calculated. And what should be my next move?

I agree that people very very often become obsessed with herpes, trust me.  Let me know your results.

I will know my results later this coming week and hopefully they come out in my favor. Im just curious as to why i would be having these symptoms for over a month now, i feel as though herpes has its stages and comes and goes instead of lingering. Also i know when someone gets it in their head theyve developed something such as an std they become obsessed and i feel as if i am obsessing over this. I read non stop on these forums. I would like to ask u how often u see herpes cases with my symptoms

The odds of acquiring herpes from a single encounter with a person whose herpes status is unknown is about 1 in 10,000.  

It was an error to run a PCR blood test.  The PCR test for herpes should be as swab test, not a blood test.  What will matter is the IgG antibody test.  What was that result?

Your symptoms don't sound herpetic to me at all.  

Can you let me know the results of your IgG antibody test at 6 weeks post exposure?  That will be the most important result.  If you are negative for HSV 2 at 6 weeks out, there is a 70% chance it will stay that way.  Let me know, OK?
