Dry skin and redness on penis

Lately, after sex I have noticed dry skin on the ridge of my penis, between the head and the shaft. I wipe the dry skin off with some hydrogen peroxide and then the area will be very red and a little *****. It's not very painful and after a day the redness goes down and there is no puss. However it comes back the next time there is friction there. Do these symptoms sound at all like Herpes?

no, it doesn't really sound std related. The skin in our genital area is very delicate and needs extra tlc :)

It sounds like you think that, it is most likely not an STD, is that right?

try a good lube during sex/masturbation and see if that helps.

over the counter steroid cream is also bad for the genital area. Really no reason to be using it, just use a decent moisturizer.

No lube or condoms.

Since then, I've been keeping the area moist with Vaseline and Cortisone cream.

don't continue to use peroxide on your genital skin dear. It's non-chlorine bleach and does far more harm than good.  Only use plain soap and water on your genitals unless told to do otherwise by a medical provider for a medical condition. You actually cause the skin to dry by using peroxide which makes you more vulnerable to all sorts of infections - both std and non-std.

do you use lube when you have sex? do you use condoms?
