why makes you hesitant to take a herpes antiviral? We have over 25 years of safety with acyclovir alone ( that actually includes folks taking it daily for 20+ years too ). There's a terrific article by dr stephen tyring on the safety of valtrex and acyclovir I can recommend if you are interested in more reading at any point.
As to why an ob both places at the same time - as I said, probably coincidence more than anything. I wouldn't expect from here on out to always have ob's both places each time.

Well my dr felt that since it was my first year of breakouts, she felt this was normal for HSV1, but she did say that since I have a lot of stress in my life right now this could be why I'm having ob period. I thought that having HSV1 would be like no ob compaired to HSV2. So I was just as confused with that one also. Well she did test me while I was in because I was complaining of itching and redness and everything looked fine except for my lesion obviously, lol. I'm very hesitant to take a drug constantly like that. She said with therapy she could probably knock them off all together but I just feel I should wait and see how this goes. I don't look at it as only HSV1, still upset about having it period and I still have it genitally and he don't that we are aware off anyway. Now with this last ob me having a sore orally with a genital, I didn't know if that was due to it being the same virus or if that is still unusual.
4 recurrences in a year is pretty unusual for hsv1 genitally which is why it's well worth getting your vaginal secretions tested for yeast and bacteria. BV especially triggers herpes to be more active and you don't always have obvious signs of it like increased discharge, itchiness and odor to know that you have it. Something to keep in mind if you keep getting recurrences this often.
Don't hesitate to try suppressive therapy for a few months or so to get a break from recurrences if they can't find anything else going on. You can do it rather cheaply with acyclovir.
I'm glad you pursued further work up after you last post :) I think knowing that it's only hsv1 you guys are dealing with is probably pretty helpful for you and hubby isn't it?

they did a swab from a lesion, it came back HSV1. She asked me if I wanted to take meds and I said no, which I prefer not to unless they get bad, which I don't feel they are. She just said for me to let her know if they get worse or change my mind. I get one lesion with my outbreaks, I've only have about 4 this year. Obviously my first ob was the worse, which was last Sept. I had no other infections at that appt nor have I had any at all this year that I'm aware of. Have no idea what my triggers are, she said she wasn't sure and to watch for things that I notice.
they tested the lesions for herpes and it came back hsv1+ or just did a blood test?
You still getting ob's a lot? Did they also look for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally and such as a trigger? Did they give you herpes antivirals?

And I screwed up not connecting my forums but I didn't know how to delete this one once I posted it and realized it went to a new post all together, so if anyone knows how to let me know and I'll re type it to my first so my hx is on there
It can happen but usually it's more of a coincidence than anything. It's more common when first infected than with recurrences.
did you ever go for an exam and proper testing at all after your last posts here?
