HSV2 and continuing pain when out break is over

I was dianosed with HSV2 in August and have had 2 small outbreaks, my second one being at the end of September.  I had one sore and that healed up within 2 weeks.  The pain wasn't bad at all.  My problem is since then I have burning, itching, and stabbing pains in and around my vagina steadily.  IDoctors have examined me and say there is nothing wrong with me.  I have no outbreak and everything else looks ok.  This pain and discomfort is runining my life.  It is constant eveyday.  I have been precribed  Tegretol for neuropathic pain but it does not work at all.  I am at the point of ending my life because of this.  I need someone to believe how bad this pain is and to not dismiss my complaints.  I need answers and a solution.  I am at the end of my rope and will end it all soon.

constipation puts pressure on the nerves in that same area and can also cause issues.  have you tried something like mirlax?

I have been having bowel issues with alot of constipation and really painful bowel movements when I do go.  No bladder issues at all.  It doesn't even hurt when I go.

you might also want to stop the valtrex and switch to acyclovir and see how that works for you. some folks do get pain from valtrex so it's worth stopping it for a few weeks and if the pain gets better, switching to acyclovir to see if you tolerate that better.

let us know how your gyn appointment goes too!!

are you having any bladder issues or bowel issues at all with all of this?

Please stay in contact with your therapist!!  Before i found out that vulvodynia existed i actually thought i was going crazy!!  The doctors were telling me it was all in my head too.  You have to find a knowlegable doctor and follow up.

I am sorry about your expierence, i unterstand your emotions with all of this.  I am going through my own hell trying to figure out my status.    Please stay strong for your son!!  Good luck to you and hang in there!!!

I will take the information you gave me to the drs when I go next time.  Waiting to see a GYN instead of my reg doc.  Not getting any answers from him and he thinks it is all in my head.  He is wrong.  As I wrote in my last post ot gracefromhpp I am in therapy and do have a psychiatrist for bipolar.  I call the crisis hotline alot and have been in a psychistric hospital and will probably go back soon.  It just sucks because I have to work and support my son so I lose money everytime I have a breakdown and this herpes thing and my continuing pain is really making me much worse.  Thank you for your kind words.

I am on valtrex and have been for about 2 months.  I have been tested for other std's but really can not give you a list.  I have not seen a GYN but have seen 3 doctors so far.  Waiting to get into see the GYN and am going to take my case manager with me to help explain my situation.  I am in therapy and will continue.  I also have a psychiatrist to manage my meds for bipolar.  I have been suicidal on and off for a long time so this herpes thing just added another reason to be.  My regular doc thinks this continuing pain is in my head and it is not as bad as I am making it out to be.  Time for another doc don't you think?

sorry to hear that you are having so much pain :(  Pain is never  reason to end your life. call your doctor when things are unbearable and even ask for a consult to a pain specialist to get better pain control. Also your local suicide hotline is a good resource for you too. they are in the phone book or look them up online.

are you taking anything for your herpes?

what testing have you had done for other things so far?

are you seeing a gyn or just your regular doctor?

i understand how completely and utterly this can take over your thinking and your life.  But Please stop and think about this first.  If you need to call a therapist and get help with the phycological aspect of it all.

Perhaps if you are not expierenceing an outbreak, there could deff be something else going on down there.  When i was younger i was diagnosed with vulvodynia.  It was just a constant pain and burning and itching on the inside and outside of my vagina  It took me over 2 years and 15 doctors to finally figure out what was going on.  Try to find a specialist in your area to rule that out.  From what i have read on here, outbreaks are not constant and neither should the pain be.  Im not  an expert, but i am concerned about you.  Sit back and take a breath!!!
