HSV2 positive - Western Blot
hello everyone,
went to the gyno for the infection,. he suggested a herpes test and gave me Valtrex for 5 days. 5 days later the lab results came back, was diagnosed with staph and strep infections, stopted taking Valtrex, started Levaquin (antibiotic) for 10 days - just finished.
to my shock and surprise, i was tested negative for oral herpes and positive for genetal
HSV2 IGG 2.4
the doctor told me it's not a big deal, but i simply don't know how i could have gotten it. all my very few partners are negative (tested recently), i never had any symptoms.
Question: how soon can i retest with the Western Blot test? i had sex three weeks ago with the current boyfriend, who just tested negative. just finished the 10 day RX of antibiotics.
please help, i am going nuts with anxiety. Thank you!

but can the recent staph and strep infections/ antibiotics affect the WB test, if i do it in the next few weeks? will in increase the level of antibodies?
just want to make sure i get the right results and dont waste money if it's too early to ask the doctor for the test (who never mentioned anything about retesting with the western blot).

the first ob occurs within 2-20 days after infection whether you notice it or not. About half of folks who are diagnosed with what they thought was a newly acquired hsv2 infection, actually are just having their first noticeable recurrence that leads to them getting seen and diagnosed.
one more question,
would it be possible to have the 1st outbreak 2-3 months after the exposure? or the symptoms usally occur within 2-20 days after sex?

if it's been at least 4 months since you last had sex with anyone but him, you can get the WB at any time and no need to wait.
