Help Getting WB After Very Unhelpful Doctor's Visit!

Hello all!

I have started the quest to get a WB after a 1.13 IGG HSV2 result. I've decided I will drive myself crazy until I know definitively whether I have this or not.

Sadly, I want to my OBGYN today and she said "never heard of the test, won't help you, would you like viral suppressives, and an undertone of "you are crazy."" She wouldn't even take my CDC handouts with info about confirmatory testing :( After feeling very disheartened, I am determined to get the WB nonetheless. I have the requisition form filled out via Westover Heights, and I have the kit from UW. So I think the last remaining thing I need is some serum, and to send it out with the kit overnight and then wait for results.

Two Qs: 1) Do I have my facts straight or do I need something more? (I want to get the test right the first time after this hassle); 2) Any ideas on how to get my blood serum? Talk to more doctors? Talk to more labs?

I've looked at some old posts on this problem, but they don't appear to be up to date (i.e. I don't think Quest does the test anymore). Any help is much much appreciated--even if it's a link to a recent thread I've missed.

Thank you for your support and patience <33333

I found a doctor with a lab in his office to agree to give me the test! I will send in the test next week and finally have an answer. I found the dr through a friend of a friend--maybe this is a good way to find a doctor who is willing to give you the benefit of the doubt (not that you should need to be given the benefit of the doubt to get a confirmatory test that the CDC and experts recommend....)

Anyway, one tip he had which may be useful for future WB seekers--it's better to send the test in earlier in the week. Anything past Wednesday he says risks getting lost in the mix of the weekend, so the earlier the better.

I am so sorry you were treated so poorly by a medical professional.
Quest no longer does them unfortunately. You try other labs like labcorp. Best bet is to find a dr that will draw and spin tbe blood. Can the west overheights clinic direct you to someone near you that can draw the blood?

that is a good idea--I will try that. it's amazing to me she was so mean--it's not like I was handing her pages from WebMD...it was CDC/Pub Med publications lol. will let you know if I manage to get it.
