I think i may have herpes

Hey everybody,

I am a 20 yo male who recently had sex with a woman i believe may have had herpes. She was a call girl. This was first time ever doing anything like this and before this the only girl i had sex with was my girlfriend of three years. she gave me a handjob and i fingered her then i put on a condom and had  protected sex with her. The condom DID NOT break and was still tightly around my penis. Afterwards i immediatly showered and washed thoroughly. This happened on saturday the 26th of september. Over the course of the past 5 days i have experienced some symptoms that i have read suggest i might have herpes. Over the past couple days i have experienced extreme fatigue, difficulty beginning to pee (but no sort of burning), a dry cough, and bad breath. I also have had feelings ranging from a tingling to an itch near  my testicles and on my penis. I have have also had an extreme loss in appetite, and a almost complete withdrawl from life many times in the day. I have not seen any redness on my penis , but my testicles are i suppose a little more red than usual. I have not yet experienced anything i would label as an initial breakout. I went to a doctor on tuesday the 29th of september. He was a school doctor and he did a full range of tests chlamydia, ghoneria, HIV, and syphyllis. He did not test me for herpes because he said the odds of me getting it from this situation was very low, and because he said i would most likely not test positive yet if i had it. My results have come in and im negative across the board. However, i am worried sick that i may have contracted herpes. My questions are

1) what do you think the chances are especially from this sitution that i got herpes? I heard that perhaps if she was shedding or something she could have spread it to the base of my penis or my sac because the condom does not protect there?
2) I have read that sometimes anxiety and panic disorders may cause the same symptoms ( i have been litterally scared to death) do you think this may be my problem?
3) i heard if i dont show signs after two weeks that i may be out of the woods(maybe) but i dont know if i can wait it out that long is there any other way to find out quicker
4) do you guys have any input on what i should do, or how i could relax a little i am seriously worried

Thanks for any answers, sorry for the long windedness

Thanks i appreciate your help. When he looked at my penis he said everything looked normal but like i said it was very early in the "process." Im still not really sure if i have it or not i think (and pray) that my mind is playing tricks on me but im very concerned. Most of the symptoms seem real to me but the mind is a very powerful tool. I hope in this case it is just my nerves.

I have another question for anyone that feels like answering me.
If this woman was in fact infected with herpes that makes her possibility of having HIV much higher. If i contracted herpes from her does that mean that i also have a very high chance of aquiring HIV because of the fact that i got infected? This concerns me a lot and any answers would be much appreciated.

Well, herpes isn't a nice thing to have, but someone with herpes can live a normal life, so your panic is understandable, but not really necessary.  However it goes, you will be fine.

I think you're going to have to wait for a few weeks, and then ask for a herpes blood test.  Doc was right, there wouldn't have been any point testing for herpes antibodies so soon after the encounter.

Did doctor take a look and rule out other type of infection - fungal or bacterial?

Good luck
