Herpes Symptoms???

I have had a burning/tingling sensation in the head of my penis for the most part constantly since Jan 3rd. I had unprotected oral sex and sexual intercourse with a female that I didn't know had Herpes (unknown which type) until I found a bottle of Acyclovir in her bathroom on Jan 2nd. She initially denied having it and then admitted she was positive. I have not had any bumps, sores, blisters discharge or any other visible signs. I am also waiting results from preliminary STD test. . She doesn't know the type, what her values are, nothing. My question is, is it normal to have sensation for so long without any other symptoms?  I am filled with anxiety and I am checking my penis every 2 to 3 hours for changes. I also am doing this alone because she has been hesitant to share information with me regarding her diagnosis only stating she is positive.

Hi if  the tingling started the next day it would not be std related. Test was a good idea however but most likely some trama to the tip of your penis from the act itself. All std,s including herpes needs a few days to generate any symptoms and with herpes the sore would show up on the shaft not the tip usually.

Another thing, when we use the word tingling its called prodrome symptoms of a pending outbreak and are most often associated with recurrent outbreaks meaning a person most likely had an outbreak there before.

I had the tingling a day after unprotected intercourse with her on Jan 2nd.  On Jan 10th I had protected sex with her and that's when I found the Acyclovir.  I am waiting for the test results to trickle in.  However I am filled with anxiety.

As Fleetwood points out, tingling alone is not diagnostic of herpes. You would typically expect some kind of skin changes along with that.

Chances of transmission in a single act of intercourse are quite low, so try not to worry terribly much. I would caution you to stay off of antivirals until three-four months have passed and you can get tested. If you do develop any strange sores or bumps, have them evaluated immediately.

Try not to worry! Good luck.

Did the tingling start after you found the acyclovir? This sounds a lot like stress related tingles. Did you know what acyclovir was for when you found it?

There is a chance you were infected of course, but the timing if this tingle and the constancy of it are probably not related to herpes. You will need your testing at 12 weeks to be conclusive.
