Herpes Test Results Confusing

I was visually diagnosed with genital herpes more than 25 years ago. I hadn't had an episode occur in more than 16 years until this past July when I noticed a bump on the bottom of my penis which then formed some lesions. I went to my doctor and he prescribed me a suppressant Valacyclovir 500mg which I take daily. I haven’t had another outbreak since July but a week ago when I went to the doctor, I took your advice and got a blood test to test exactly what I might have. It was a HSVIGM test and the results came back negative for any active antibodies for both Herpes 1 and 2. The nurse said when I come in again, to get tested for a "past herpes infection not currently active". I am a little confused about these results. My main concern is the possibility of transmitting herpes to my present girlfriend either thru her giving me oral sex or having unprotected intercourse. What are the chances of transmission given the negative results? Additional info, is that I was with another woman for over 6 years and she had the antibodies test this past October and it came back negative as well. Please advise and thank you.
