Herpes Test

Hi Doctor,  I had an incident with a male massage worker in April of last year.   They rubbed up again my naked penis with his for only a few seconds before I stopped him.  It was a complete miscommunication on what the massage would be. After the exposure I freaked out and had a full panel of STD testing done after 30 days.  Everything came back negative.  Due to my continued fears after the exposure I had myself re-tested after 7 months and my Herpes Simplex II test was positive with a score of 7.98.   Could this be a false positive?  The score seems too high to me after reading this forum.   I have not had any other sexual activity since than.  Thank you for your response in advance.

It would appear its recent but realize even with the best tests they miss 10% of the cases but since both were negative i would lean that way. I cant imagine you contracted it from such a simple act but things to happen in the real world.

Hi, with that score and if you had a herpes select type specific test, it would be positive. Test again if you want but false positive range would be anything below 3.  Did you test at 30 days for herpes as well?
