Sorry, I did not mean to infer that this was your created confusion, most of the confusion looks to have been provided by your doctor!
Here is what I think has happened. Your swab has come back positive for HSV but not typed, this is very common. I think you have had a negative IgG test for HSV1 and HSV2. I think your doctor feels you should have had an IgM test as well that may reveal a recent infection (but is a highly unreliable test.)
I think you should test the interpretation of the above with your doctor.
Overall though, yes this may well be a primary infection of both oral and genital regions with HSV1. Lesions from both locations should be tested for some confirmation.
Although not a lot of comfort for you, the implications for your partner are nil. They cannot be infected further, there is no documented case of a male with an established oral infection becoming infected genitally. The chances seem zero or incredibly remote at worst.
And you are awaiting culture of PCR results on the swabs?
I'm not sure what you mean by suggesting your blood was not tested for HSV yet somehow confirms a recent infection??
What you need to do is get confirmation of what is going on.
Did you have the lesions swabbed?
What you suggest may be a primary infection in both locations which is not common but does happen for sexually active couples. Best to get it all confirmed though.
Not a bad outbreak- he's never had an out break.
Sorry
