HSV 1 and 2 false positive ?

40 years old, male went in for a physical. Had the spefic herpes test. Results were positive as igg hsv1 7.4 and igg hsv2 1.24.  I had no clue I would test positive I have never had a symptom of any sort any place mouth or genitals .  I am freaking out,  I read that false positives are very common with low igg results .  I am barely in the positive range for Hsv2(1.10 ) I'm 1.24.

Should I be re tested? Is it worth a concern or getting on Valtrex etc?  Some dr posts I read is that's until you have a break out don't let it stress you out.  I  haven't told my girlfriend of three years about it yet for obvious concerns of her thinking the wrong thing or our sex life changing because of it.

Suggestions on how I should proceed?

Your hsv1 is a conclusive positive. Your hsv2 has a better than 50/50 chance of being a false positive. That is statistically speaking. Hsv2 tests are very sensitive and cross over from hsv1 is common. In my experience i believe your odds of this being a false positive is closer to 80%. Yes retest in a few weeks.
