Most certainly a person can donate blood if HSV+.
As herpes is not a blood borne virus, can I donate blood?
not too surprising you are also hsv1+, most adults are whether they get obvious cold sores or not to know it.
the pcr test actually looks for herpes dna. since herpes isn't a blood borne virus, getting a pcr blood test is useless in most situations. we typically use it on obvious lesions to look for herpes.
if your partner is hsv1 negative, you can perform protected oral sex on him if you both prefer that.

I had my first symptom in my genital area 10 years before and I had HSV II Igg positive result at that time. The symptoms were:- in the periods time, initial itching in the genital area, then becoming reddish, then forming an ulcer kind of sore, then burning sensation and pain while urinating. But I dint test for HSV I as I didn't notice any fever blisters in my face or any other parts (or I might have missed to notice). Now only I wanted to test for HSV I also (as I thought of giving pleasure to my partner atleast orally. He is not infected with any STD) . I was surprised to see the result for HSV I also as positive. But I got confused with the PCR result. What for the PCR test is done and with which specimen it need to be done? I just want to give him pleasure using whatever method that is safe for him. That's y I am asking these many questions to you. Sorry for troubling this much.
pcr can not be done on blood on adults. herpes is not a blood borne infection so using pcr on blood to diagnose herpes is pretty much worthless outside of research situations when it comes to adults. Your provider spent a lot of money needlessly by ordering that test on you :(
why did you get tested? did you have symptoms?
PCR test was a blood test
was your pcr test a blood test or was it done on active genital symptoms?
