I've had a really REALLY bad sore throat for about 2 weeks now. My doctor did a rapid strep test and it came back negative. I went on a z-pack and it lessened the severity of the sore throat, but it didn't completely go away. I'm worried that it might be throat herpes! I've been tested back in January for Herpes 1&2 and both came back non-existent negative. I'm worried that I could have contracted it from some unknown source (I've read that's how most people get HSV-1). My throat looks red and irritated, and my doctor has looked at it twice and said that it doesn't look like anything of an STD-nature. She just kinda shrugged it off, but I've read that most doctors can easily miss things like that from just looking. Should I get a culture done??
I've had a bad sore throat, no fever, no fatigue, no nothing! The only other thing I can think of is that I had a canker sore looking thing that was REALLY small under my tongue. It was really painful, but it went away in less than a week...and my sore throat stayed! I've had canker sores before many times. I just have a really REALLY bad sore throat.
I'm worried because I'm in a relationship and I've performed oral sex on my partner within the past couple of weeks (which I still had this sore throat) and then we proceeded shortly afterward to have unprotected intercourse. Now I have vaginal irritation and a burning sensation near the opening of my vagina. No visible sores or anything down there. I'm freaking out over here, and I plan on getting tested again on Monday so that I can get some peace of mind.
Does this sound like anything I should be worried about?
