Herpes or not? Second opinion please

Hi

My symptons were a small red rash appearing on the genital area over 3 weeks. At the start of the 4th week the area opened up and was weaping. It crusted over by the end of the 4th week. The occassional itch was experienced during the first couple of weeks. No flu like symptons and not painful and and no obvious fluid like vesicles typical of herpes. However I noticed on the doctor report he said 'blistering'.

PCR was negative. Although PCR was taken at the start of the fourth week when lesions appeared still active. 'Open/Weaping'. Im worried I missed the window for testing even though this I understand is a very sensitive test.

then;

The proper Eliza Type specific Herpes tests after outbreak.

1 month
2 month
4 month and
6 months

All negative for type 1 and or 2.

8 months later no more symptons.

Can I move on!?

Since you are negative for both HSV 1 and HSV 2, I think you can be confident about moving on.  No test is perfect, but we can only do the best we can do, which you have done.

he said he wanted to do the PCR simply to rule in or rule out herpes. Never had a cole sore on lips or nose and no treatments were used.

Very interesting case presentation.  What did the doctor think that looked at it?  What treatments, if any were used, other than the Bio Oil? Have you ever had a cold sore on your lip or nose in the past?

applied BIO after the red rash appeared and had itched at least once or twice. Did not want you to think this all happened after applying bio oil. bio oil was applied hoping to make red scally rash go away.

Sorry one more point.

Foolishly, I applied 'BIO OIL' during the 3 weeks when I noticed the red rash area. I guess this may have contributed to the area opening up and weaping or simply inflamed the area.
