Hsv-2 on Nipples

My friend was diagnosed by swab culture as having Hsv-2 on her nipples.  She plans to breast feed in the future.  Is this even possible without her child contracting it orally?

I am not sure how plausible all this is. I suggest your friend return to the doctor and confirm through blood test the type of HSV they may have and exactly what swab was performed. Does she have genital HSV2?

Oral HSV2 is extremely rare and it is not clear whether it can be transmitted from that location.

Are you sure about this story?

This sounds very strange. I think the circumstances need to be investigated further. I am not sure how it is even possible for HSV2 to infect nipples!

I think your friend should return for further testing and understanding of the tests undertaken to confirm HSV and whether it was HSV1 or HSV2.
