3.15 igg false positive?
I never had herpres hsv 1 oral or any type of std. I recently got tested a few weeks ago and hsv 1 was positive. The blood work showed I had levels of hsv 1 3.15igg. I know IgG is a good test but is it possible that is wrong? Does me having chicken when I was younger could trigger these results and should I get retested?

if you need the peace of mind get the WB for confirmatory testing. it's more likely to pick up on hsv1 infections than other blood tests are overall.
I suppose you are right It is possible that other testing could have missed it. This is all new to me and Its consuming 90% of my thoughts throughout the day I just want to get it over with and deal with it if I am positive.
I'd only get the WB, no reason to repeat your other igg test.

I am going to get tested again tomorrow I am going to show my Dr. my recent blood results along with the research on these tests and tell her I want to get tested again for Hsv1 & Hsv2 with the Herpeselect IgG but I want it to be backed up with The WB test just to make sure of the results. Hopefully everything will go well. Still a lil confused because my previous partner got tested and came back - for herpes and my most recent and current parnter came back - for herpes. No percautions were taken we got tested after sex... but he is fine and why am I testing positive for the first time ever?
I have another question I am going to get retested because its always best to get a second opionion. But can u get tested for HSV1 oral with the WesternBlotTest?
most adults do have hsv1 but most don't get obvious cold sores to know that they are infected. It's very common. http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm has terrific info on oral herpes for more reading.

(continued from orginal post) i did have chicken pox as a kid... but I never had any cold sores or out breaks and no one I know had hsv1 oral. Is it possible the test was wrong. I need answers.
