Yes my test is the type specific test igg. Both hsv 1 and 2 were neg. U said hsv 1 test only for oral herpes then does that mean i may have gential hsv 1 and may not know forever unless i develop symptoms? Am i really safe or my test was meaningless? Thks.

This is where you are confusing me at.

You have tested.  Correct?  If yes read A.  if not read B.

A.  If you tested for Herpes the proper test to have had performed is a type specific IGG blood test.

B.  If you have not tested for Herpes then you need to ask for a type specific IGG blood test.

If you have been tested for HSV-1 and HSV-2.  And your doctor stated the tests were negative. You need to make sure the proper test was done.  The way to get that information is to request a copy of your results and look at the test performed.  If the paperwork says it was an IGG test then you had the proper test performed.  If it says IGM or something else then it was not the proper testing and you will need to get the testing done as I said above in B.

Now if you were tested using the proper type specific igg testing you can post your results here and maybe grace can take a look at them to tell you what your status is.  If you are not in the US she may not have much of an idea on your testing.  If this testing was properly done and you are negative for both and have waited 3 months or longer since your last sexual encounter (oral, vaginal, or anal sex) then you are more likely to be negative. Sometimes we will have a false negative on a test because it misses the anitbody or you don't have a detectable amount.  By 3 months almost everyone has enough and some people will never test positive.  We don't know why this is.  But that number is really low and chances are a negative is a negative.

If you have had cold sores your HSV-1 will come up positive.  If you don't remember having cold sores and HSV-1 comes up positive most likely (most common) is going to be you have oral HSV-1.  This is because most people get it as children.  But there is no 100% way to know for sure if you have oral herpes or genital herpes.  No test except for a swab of active symptoms that comes back positive for HSV (and the type you tested positive for) is going to tell you where your herpes is at.  This is regardless of type.  Right now a negative with no symptoms in the past that you know of is most likely a true negative and you have nothing to worry about.

That means if a herpes test for type 1 is negative what does that mean because i still dont get it. Is it just a childhood cold sore or gential hsv 1 bascially? As you know that i do not develop any symptoms on my penis and mouth so how can i confirm i am safe or not? I am still troubling myself again! Pls help me and explained what is the significance of the test? If for example i were to test positive for hsv 1 is it gential or cold sore? I am confuse. But i am negative the above statement is just an example. Thks again.

A few things.  First off you have multiple posts in our forum.  If you read the before posting here you will see we ask you keep everything in a single forum thread.

Secondly this is a WEB FORUM.  It isn't a text message.  You short handing words is really not acceptable nor proper forum langague.  Since there is an endless number of characters no need to put hv for have (or I assume it was have maybe hiv? hsv? see my point?)

Okay from your message what I can understand is this.  You tested 3 months for HSV-1 and HSV-2.  They are both negative.  Now if you had the proper type specific igg testing (not IGM) then my response would be you are in fact negative.  While testing can miss 1 out of 10 HSV infections it doesn't mean yours was missed.  Time to move on.
