Herpes testing window

Was with a woman and now have possible herpes 2 symptoms.

She was tested before being with me and was negative. Only problem was she had unprotected sex with someone 26 days before that test. I know 12 weeks is recommended window, but how many people might show positive within 26 days (percent)?

What percent of people in US have herpes 2?

What percent have it but are totally unaware/asymptomatic?

Also, how common is it to get in one or two encounters?

How long would one expect first symptoms to last?

Can you get a swab test if there's no obvious open sore but just a rash?

Do you commonly get it first on the part of the body that touched infected part? What parts of body are most susceptible?

Does the swab test work on a rash or do you need an open sore/lesion? Anything else to know about swab tests?

So is all this basically true?

Other guy could have had herpes 2 but might not have. Chances are maybe 20-50% he did.

He would have had to be shedding to give it to her. Chances 15%.

Even if so, no guarantee she got it. In brief affair, one day or weekend with sex once or a few times, chances are probably nowhere near 50% but we'll go with that.

Chances that her blood test at 24 days missed a new infection is about 50%.

Chances she was shedding while with me only about 15%.

Chances I picked it up in two episodes, neither involving penetration, quite small-probably nowhere near 10%.

Sound right?

If you had a rash, you should be seen and get it properly evaluated. If a medical professional suspects your rash is due to herpes, they can swab it. This testing is best when done sooner rather than later.

The odds that you contracted genital herpes from a one time encounter are fairly low but not zero. Don't obsess over the percentages, they really aren't all that helpful in determining risk for testing.

Was this a protected sexual encounter?

Grace, thanks.

No protection but no oral sex and no intercourse either. I don't think we had direct genital contact either but if we did it was brief. Mutual masturbation, lots of rolling around naked and touching.

My rash is primarily on back/top of thighs and around anus. Hard to quite imagine touching her a lot with those parts of my body but it's possible I guess.

I get your point about percentage, but if you could indulge me I think it would actually reduce my anxiety.

My rash has been around for ten days or so-too late for swab?

Grace, what do you think?

Given exposure, is that truly a likely way to transmit herpes 2?

And are my breakdown of the odds accurate-meaning even if she did sleep with other guy within her testing window, it's unlikely to result in my having herpes 2?

And am I right that twin flat red half-moon shaped rashes on upper thighs behind scrotum that never seemingly escalate to an open wound and that never cause a great dal of pain or itchiness, coupled with occasional itchiness by anus and top of crack by back, are not especially typical physical symptoms for first occurrence of herpes 2 with physical symptoms?

Don't mean to rush you, and thanks for your time and consideration. You've both been a big help in helping me wrap my head around this and ease my anxiety.
