Herpes, warts, or something else?

A few weeks ago, I found small protruding flesh colored bumps on my upper inner thigh/butt, about three inches south of my vagina.  I initially thought it was razor burn (just by the feel; I hadn't yet looked at them), so I didn't attend to them.  When I did take a look, the bumps were fairly soft and sort of rubbery, and basically caused me no troubles; they are isolated in one area and have not grown or spread in any way, and they weren't painful.  They sort of looked like flesh colored moles, in a way.  However, two days ago, one of the bumps became irritated and is now red and slightly painful, in a stinging sort of way.  I've researched symptoms for genital herpes and warts, but it seems improbable that herpes would start out as flesh colored bumps and stay there for so long, and then all of a sudden become inflamed.  Also, the bumps are soft, and do not have the "cauliflower" apperance.  The last person who could have possibly given me either of these that I slept with was over the summer, and I'm wondering also if there is a significant delay as far as when symptoms will appear.  I have an appointment with my doctor next week, but I am curious as to whether or not herpes/warts can appear in different forms, or if this might possibly be something else.

Certainly doesn't sound very typical of Herpes it may just be a small Bacterial infection under your skin that isn't healing ..... you are doing the correct thing in having them checked out though,it would be impossible for anyone here to know exactly what this is but I doubt that it's anything to be worrying about.
Relax and don't keep poking and prodding you will only irritate things and perhaps make the situation worse,I'm sure your Doctor will have an answer for you very soon .....

Also, I was doing some more googling, and they looked like "skin tags" when they were flesh-colored; now they're the same shape, no bleeding or anything, just pink.
But I've also started to have some discharge (white), but I can't remember if this is normal for the week after my period or not.  I think that every little thing that hurts I'm attributing to these bumps.

Can someone please help?  My appointment isn't until late next week and I just don't want to freak out any more than I should.

Also -- the bumps have not been irritating me as much, and have stopped being so red, and is now more a light pink/flesh toned.
