Herpes???

Doctor,

FYI: I couldn't access old account. I had an STD scare about 6 months ago and even got some help here from Doctor Hook. All me tests for all STD's were negative although the HPV tests I had done were 22 days after exposure. I since had an encounter out of the country with a woman. she gave me oral on the shaft unprotected but did not cover the penis head (I am uncircumszed). We then used a condom (not sure on brand) for oral and vaginal sex. I didn't last longer than 10 mins. This was 1 wk ago. 2 days later, I noticed two bumps on the side of my penis head, nothing major, they were flesh colored soft and painless. Over the next few days, I noticed two more on the other side of the penis head and very tiny ones further down on the penis head (these are almost unnoticeable). It's been a week now and they now have redness to them. they are soft and not painful at all, not itchy and seem to have dimples. Sometimes it even looks like very tiny openings at the top but cant be sure. My doctor says they do not seem typical for herpes and thinks its just a reaction to the condom. I also developed red spots in my pubic area below the abdomen after trimming my hair to go see the doctor.  (there was not blade contact for shaving, I used a gaurd) these were itchy for one day and stopped but the red spots are still visible. (not sure if related) doctor says its just irritation from the friction on intercourse although I never got this before. What could this be? Does this sound like herpes? I am awaiting blood serum tests from my doctors office but he thinks they wont be reliable. Please help!

Thanks!

It does sound like a false alarm.  It also sounds like you had the correct herpes test and that you waited long enough from the first encounter for an accurate result.  Sounds like the medicine worked well, and you should feel good about this.

Hello Doctor,

My apologies, I meant HSV. I got a phone call from my doctor's office and he didn't give me any specific readings from my test, just that it was a IGG test for both HSV I and II and that they were negative. He specifically said, "you haven't so much been in contact with the virus." The test was given to me 6 moths after my initial scare and 6 days after this most recent incident. I got so worried because this is the first time I had a visible reaction. He prescribed me a cream called Clotrimazole-Betamethasone to apply for two weeks. I have been using it for the last 5 days and the bumps have almost disappeard! Does this mean that it couldn't have been Herpes since this cream wouldn't have treated it??? I'm only worried now that the test was administered too early for this last encounter. I'm also worried that the bumps ran their course as oppossed to thecream helping since it's been 11 days since I first noticed them. Does this make sense?

Lastly, I also went to a Dermatologist at UofC and was also was todl that it was unlikely it was herpes but to wait for my results. In the interim she gave me another cream for the red spots on my pelvic area, Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion, which also cleard those spots up.

Doc, was I over reacting and does it sound to you that this was a false alarm??

Thanks!!

I'm not clear from your post if your concern is HSV or HPV.  Can you clarify?  The red spots don't sound at all like herpes to me and it sounds as if your doctor agrees.  It could definitely be a reaction to the condom.  If you had herpes in this situation, I don't think the red spots would be on the head of your penis because that was covered by a condom.  Let me know what the antibody tests say, OK?
