Herpes help?

Hello! I am just wondering if someone could possibly help me by answering a question about herpes for me. I am a semi sexually active 20 year old (I say semi because I have never had vaginal intercourse, only oral about three times with my boyfriend.) For about the past week and a half I have had been very itchy all around on the outside of my vagina, and then sort of itchy inside. I have no other symptoms, just being itchy. Some days I have not had any sort of itchiness at all and then I will wake up the next morning, and just start feeling extremely itchy! Obviously I try not to itch it but I will do so, and it will become very red and irritated. The one thing I have found that stops the itch is putting just a normal hand lotion (no perfumes or anything in it). I am just worried that it could be herpes because my boyfriend has been exposed to HSV-1, from his previous girlfriend. He has never showed any sort of symptoms however. I am wondering if there could be any way he passed herpes onto me downstairs through one of the times we had oral? and if the itching (very generalized all over my labia) could possibly be herpes? If not, any suggestions on what it could be? Also, I am sure that you will tell me the best way to see if I have herpes is to go to a doctor- but I am currently living away from where I am familiar, and I am uninsured. Any suggestions with that as well? Thank you so much!

discharge with herpes is only present with active recurrences. itching that comes and goes isn't herpes related either.

get properly tested for vaginal infections when you have your appointment.

also- is it normal for herpes to have the itching come and go as mine does? How about with a yeast infection?

Okay- quick question. I've just noticed a white watery/mucas like discharge. I will obviously mention it to the doctor but is it possibly herpes related? Or is that still something to do with a yeast infection of some sort?

yes it is possible. you both would need tested to know who has what. then you can make educated decisions about what precautions to take.

Mostly I meant that even though his exgf had hsv1 had it, is it possible he couldn't have been infected?

correct - he would have to be infected with oral herpes in order to transmit it to you. std's don't just come out of nowhere - there has to be an infected partner.

statistically 1 out of every 2-3 people you know has hsv1. it's very common. It could even be that you have it and don't realize it.

Thanks, I have scheduled an appointment! Someone pointed out to me that although my boyfriend could have been exposed, it's possible he might not even have the virus, and therefore unable to give it to me (since he doesn't have it in his system, and therefore there could be no asymptomatic shedding). Is this true? Or did someone give me incorrect information?

you need to go monday and be seen and get a proper exam done. odds are this is vaginitis going on and not herpes.   If there is a planed parenthood clinic near you, they usually are more affordable than other clinics. this isn't something you can deal with on your own - you need a proper diagnosis so you know what is going on so that you can treat it properly.
