I had a cuticle cut prior to inserting the right middle digit into a vagina. I started to develop symptoms of whitlow plus a fever. At the time I assumed that the swollen finger was a bacterial infection and was just fighting a cold.
I used a regular bandage over the wound. During my fever, every time I blew my nose I would be using my infected hand most of the time.
I now have blisters on my nose from possible contamination from my finger.
I do NOT have any sores/blisters on my genitals. I have blisters on my tongue, lips, and nose.
I do not experience any of the specific symptoms that genital herpes come with.
According to some site, HSV-1 causes approximately 60% of herpetic whitlow infections, while HSV-2 causes the remaining 40%.
My recent blood test shows up negative for both types.
Which type did I get? How can I get tested for a specific type?
