High Positive HSV II then negative?

Has anyone tested positive for HSV II in the high range (7.2) and then negative the 2nd time?

My story:  I moved in with my boyfriend in May 2010. This was someone I've known since grammar school.. we are now 26. Finally we took the next step. I soon found out that he was cheating on me with prostitutes! I was completely devestated. Of course the first thing I wanted to do was to get STD tested. Everything was negative except HSV II.

I am praying to GOD that my blood results were switched/ mislabeled..etc... but I know thats a long shot! I know this si not life threatening, but the social stigman is horriffic!  I need a miracle! this cant be true!  Has anyone received a high positive and then a negative the second time around?

herpes lesions will not hang around for months.  whatever was going on, it's not likely to be herpes related. herpes also will not appear as a golf ball under the skin either.  granted you could've had herpes and something else going on at the same time but even without treatment, a herpes lesion will heal in a few weeks and they never get to be hard lumps.

your partner who received protected oral from a prostitute did not contract hsv2 from that either.  Odds are he was never tested for herpes even if he did go for std testing. since he's an ex, odds are you'll never find out.

has your new partner been tested to know his status?

also you should considering erring  on the side of caution and retest for hiv, syphilis and hepatitis since you tested 1 month after the last time you had sex this last time.

I last had sex with my partner on or around July 30,2010. I was tested on August 23, 2010 and I tested negative for everything except HSV II IGG.

Prior to the August 2010 testing:

In November 2009- I developed a sore inside of my vagina. I honestly thought it was a cut because I remember bleeding a lot after sex.  It took months for the cut to go away. When I thought it would go away, I would try to have sex and it would continuously hurt, and the sore would be back. The pain continued. I went to the gynocologist in March 2010 because the "cut" was so bad that it made my lymph node swell up so large, it looked like a golf ball under my skin. My gynocologist thought I had herpes. The culture and blood work HSV I IGG and HSV II IGG came back negative! My bf at the time was also negative (I think he lied to me though) except for Chlyamadia. Subsequently, I was treated for chlymadia and all discomfort went away. I am still not sure if that "cut" was herpes or a bacteria infection from a cut being infected.

So that brings me to July 2010. I found out the same partner had cheated on me with a prostitute!  (Apparently he received protected oral sex from her) I was devestated.  About a week after I found out, I developed one sore that I honestly thought was a flee bite because I had flee bites all over me from my roommate's flee infested dog. I scheduled an appointment with the gyno.. she tested me for everything. I came back positive for HSV II  7.2.   I decided to go on supressive therapy, so avoid outbreaks, and sorta of for a peace of mind. I now am in another relationship and he is accepting of me.  God Bless his heart. but i want to continue supression for him.

Do lab results ever get mixed up?  :(

I've only ever had 1 poster have a hsv2 igg over 5 come back with negative tests.  odds really are you have hsv2.  If you want confirmation, a herpes Wb is the blood test you want to get to confirm your status.

how long after you had last had sex with your partner had you had your std testing done?

I've seen a couple of posts in which that supposedly happened, but I don't want to give you false hope; 7.2 is a high number are is likely to not be a false positive.

I would definitely get retested for peace of mind, through another IgG, Biokit or even a Western Blot.

I'm so sorry to hear of your bf cheating & your possible diagnosis.  =(
