why didn't they already c section you if you are over 40 weeks?
has your partner been tested to know their herpes status?
acyclovir cream really doesn't help much for genital herpes.
your acyclovir dose should've been 400mg 3x/day for the last month of pregnancy.
honestly at this point it's far too late to really help you much with this from a herpes standpoint. if they suspect you have herpes that you contracted during your 3rd trimester, they should've already sectioned you around 39 weeks to protect your baby.
I am now 40+1 weeks.
The results actually came back as negative for herpes2, but they aren't convinced as symptoms looked like the virus and can take up to 3 months to show up. They took swabs as well as blood tests. They took another look at my booking bloods which also tested negative for herpes2 but tested positive for herpes1.
No I didn't get the recurrences swabbed.. Sounds stupid but I was scared, especially because it'd mean that I'd have to get a caesarean. But even though the recurrences weren't as bad as the first (second time was only one ulcer on the vulva and the rest was red and sore with heavy white discharge, third time was just red and sore and itchy with a not-as-heavy yellowy discharge - first lesions I had 3 ulcers on the vulva and a semi-heavy white discharge).
I was also swabbed for other infections on the first and second visit and the only thing that came back positive was group strep B.
I'm on 2x Aciclovir tablets daily at 400mg, and I now use Aciclovir cream 5x daily as well as Canesten cream 3x daily to sooth itching. Redness and soreness on the vulva have cleared but the general area is still a little itchy.
So what do you think?
how pregnant are you?
how were you originally diagnosed as having genital herpes?
have you been getting your recurrences this months swabbed to know that they are herpes?
have they tested you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally during this month?
what dose and what medication are you on?
