How were you diagnosed, what type do you have?
The doctor told me that I had genital herpes, but I was still waiting for the diagnosis when I posted the question. All the research indicated that I did, flu like symptoms the whole nine yards. The diagnosis came back as shingles with no trace of either 1 or 2, so I am clean. However, I still think it'd be good for me to know more about the disease. The sites and forums are quite unclear about this question.
If the only way to get #2 is by sex, why is it considered so contagious? I don't sleep around so was I being paranoid in wiping down toilet seats?
Hi, shingles cannot be spread to someone else but it can cause chicken pox to someone who has not had it. I believe every one has been vacinated against this from childhood. Back in the day all babies were vaccinated for chicken pox, polio, mumps and the list goes on. Just make sure everyone has been vaccinated.
The rash can only be contageous at the blister stage.
Regardless of the final diagnosis the original question lingers...Was I just being paranoid or was I taking the right precautions if I had had the herpes virus? - Can genital herpes spread or be caught without having sex? How contagious is a person during an outbreak? Should caution be used when using a public stall?
