could it be something else?

hi there,

just a week ago, i started having blisters and a case of really bad bumps on my vagina, i.e. the inside of it...i thought it was something bacterial but when i went to the doc, she said just by looking at it that it was herpes. I had a blood test and there were anti bodies found in it too. the person i had sex with denies that he has anything and said he would prove it through his own tests...i dont know if hes lying or not...however, im really scared and embarrassed to take a test specific to it again...is it a sure thing that just because i had anti bodies in my blood, that it HAS to be herpes and nothing else? is there any other way to find out and see if its something bacterial and not exactly herpes...pls help!! im desperate!!

you can contract hsv2 orally but the risk of such is rather low. You can also have hsv1 both orally and genitally too.

hi grace,

i have another question..i wanted to ask that is it possible for genital herpes to transfer to the mouth via oral sex? im asking this because if i got genital herpes from unprotected sex n i got it on my genitals but i'v not gotten a single sore on my lips on my mouth despite the oral sex (sorry for being so descriptive)....so is this possible that im only infected in one area and not in the least in another??

thanks!

you specifically need herpes igg blood testing done to know your status. you have to wait at least 3 months after you last had sex in order for it to be accurate.

call your provider and find out what testing was done.

i dont know what testing it was...im really a novice when it comes to all this...all i know is that i got my blood test within like 2-3 hrs and it showed anti bodies in my system...i showed it the same time to the doc and she was like yeah, there are anti bodies found...is there a way i can get tested where i dont have to be specific that i want it done for herpes? i mean if i said that i want an IGG test done, would the person know that its for herpes? it's really insulting out here to do that and i want to be sure, yet not give the impression that i want it for an STD..pls help! this thing is playing havoc with my mind....

also, what does it mean that u have blisters 'inside' the vagina? i remember that i was very harsh with toilet paper those days and my vaginal area was kinda scratched...then i went to the gym and i think i was wearing nylon panties and i came back and there was a sore that i popped...after that, the entire area got blisters but i dont think they were inside my vagina...right at the opening but not inside...also, zovirax cream made it so worse and coconut oil made a huge difference in 1-2 days max.....

im only worried about this because i did have sex during that time..if i hadnt, i'd never have thought of this as herpes...pls help!

hi grace,

thanks for taking the time to reply. ive been reading some posts where people said that the doctors made a wrong judgement after just the physical examination and dismissed their condition as herpes...this is what happened to me too...though my swab did go to the lab and my blood showed anti bodies, i still wonder if there is a possibility of it being something else...i also couldnt get the IGG test done because i felt embarrassed..its not routine for people in my country to get these tests done especially when theyre unmarried...

ive read that herpes get better within a week or upto 2 weeks...though my condition was bad and i was given zovirax (both topical cream and the oral med) i dont think it ever made a difference...in fact, the zovirax cream made my condition worse...i stopped using it and put coconut oil which cleared up my blisters in like 3 days max! is it possible that it could be something else?? i mean the doctor just saw it and said it was herpes and yea there were anti bodies in the blood...but does blood make anti bodies in response to something bacterial?

pls help me and thanks in advance to whoever would read this long post and reply!

I can best help you if you get your actual test results to post  here - e.g. hsv1 igg 6.9 and hsv2 igg 5.9 or whatever they are. that way we can be sure that you were proper tested and see if you need any additional confirmatory testing done. Call the clinic monday to ask for them.

please keep all your questions in the same post. you have 2 posts now - thanks!
