Hsv2 Blood Test vs. Hsv2 Culture-Part II

In my first question, the dates are  06/2009 and 10/2012 titled Hsv2 Blood Test vs. Hsv2 Culture dated 11/07/13.

As I  mentioned in my previous question on 11/07/13,   my urine burned after intercourse for a year. I have never had this problem in  the past.  My gyn stated that  I maybe allergic to his semen. Prior to me engaging in intercourse, I had a complete STD checking and everything can back negative except HSV1 which I knew it would be positive.-  one time fever blister OB under ten years old. My boyfriend did state that he had a HSV test done some years ago not recent like I did in October 2012.  He has no signs or symptoms even after I tested positive for HSV2 on 11/05/13. He is going to get tested.

However, I did not have a blister. Yet, I had a single small-mid size  bump that actually looked like a  pimple or a cyst.  I did not have any tingling, back pain, or leg pain.  By the way, I have never had any lesions during my menstrual in the past 30 years. I read that some women developed lesions during their menstrual.  I am still baffled that my culture for that one bump can back positive for HSV-2. Yet, my blood tests neg. 3 times  within the past  three years- 0.08 igg, 0.00 igg, and 0.11 igg. I started taking Valtrex twice a day for three days even though the one bump is gone yet I have very minor irritation were the bump was located.  What is the purpose for taking Valtrex though it does not cure the virus?

As for the small miniature 3-5 white bumps on my labia majora (hair area), I am not sure why the bumps are reappearing and clearing on their on since 07/2013 after shaving.   I stopped  shaving in  8/2013. The bumps appear in the same place. Are they really cysts?  The dermatologists ruled out folliculitis.  Do you think that the overgrowth of Klebsiella is causing them to reappear? The culture for three bumps were neg. for hsv1&2 in 07/2013.

Please help me understanding what is going on.

So again, he definitely needs testing.  You may well have new infection and you really can't know until either he tests positive for HSV 2 by antibody test or you test positive by antibody test down the road.

False positives on the culture are truly few and far between but happen.  I would be certain to go in and have swab testing done if you get any more bumps that are similar.

Could the other bumps just be hair follicles on the labia?  We certainly see them all the time.

If your boyfriend's test is negative and yours down the road continues to be negative, it suggests that either the culture is a false positive or you are one of the few people who simply don't test positive on the traditional antibody screening test.

Terri, Thanks for answering my question. Yes, I will be getting a copy of my  hsv2 positive result for that one bump and await the results for  my boyfriend hsv 2 test.

Though my recent hsv2  blood test was  0.11 igg  in  10/2012 and I have only been intimate with him,  what if his results come back negative?  Yet, my two 2009 hsv2 blood tests were negative. From 2007-2011, I was celibate.

As for the 3-5  small bumps on my labia majora  that appear and disappear which were neg. hsv 1 & 2 in 7/2013, both the gyn and the dermatologist ruled out folliculitis and stated that I have cysts.

I will follow-up with you regarding my copy results and boyfriend's test results.

Thanks
