Hsv2

Ive had hsv2 for a year and a half and i only ever get a breakout during my period each month.Other than that i dont have any bother from it. Im still very unsure of wether sex with a condom will still allow transmission?, can i have oral sex done on me without passing it on and if i start the suppressive therapy, how much protection does this offer my partner. Ive recently started dating someone but so far only kissed. I want to share this info but in a way that i wont scare him but also inform as honestly as possible. Up until ive really struggled coping with it but i dont want to hide away anymore.....gets lonely!

did you have blood test done to look for herpes or did you have a lesion culture done of symptoms in the genital area that came back + for hsv2?

famvir doesn't boost your immune system. how it works is to disrupt the viral replication cycle of the virus so that it heals faster when you start it when you have symptoms. When you take it 250mg 2x/day every single day, it helps to prevent recurrences of your herpes.  if you are having monthly recurrences of your herpes, you should be on daily suppressive therapy to help you have less recurrences. it'll also help to protect a partner from contracting hsv2 from you also.

I had a test done by my doctor to specifically detect HSV2 and it came back positive for that strain. I then did a further full screen at the GUM clinic.
Im a bit confused with the suppressive therapy. Ive been given a course of famciclovir and ive only been on it the last week. I initially thought this was to boost your immune system but have since found out it doesnt. Also i was told to take 125mg but on the instruction leaflet it says if your someone who gets frequent outbreaks you should take 250mg a day. Im very confused over it all
