Any other possibilities beside herpes?

3 1/2 months ago small, painful papules or ulcers formed on just on the lips of the mouth of my penis. These resolved in a little over two weeks as far as I remember but tissue is still tender.

In the weeks after some soreness developed in my urethra with particular sensitivity about a 1/4 inch in from the head of my penis and in another area farther back. It does not hurt when I pee, although I can feel the sensitivity and a couple times have experience a mild sharp pain.

I did not get to a doctor in time to swab the papules. Blood work at the time did not point to herpes according to the doctor, but she suggested getting follow-up bloodwork. Results from new bloodwork should come in on Monday 9/26. Herpes seems the most likely, but soreness in my urethra for this long is baffling me. Are there any other possibilities other than herpes with the symptoms I've experienced?

Background:

1) I have had unprotected sex with one partner who has never experienced symptoms of herpes that she knows of. She has had general STD bloodwork recently that came out negative, but I don't know what all they screened for. She has had many partners

2) About a month or month and a half before the initial outbreak I had a severe skin rash on much of my body including my genitals where lots of red white headed pimples formed. This was immediately after moving into a new house and room, which was sort of damp and moldy. At the time, the only explanation was some sort of reaction to something in my environment, so I moved out of the room and it did resolve with some time.

3) I have only had one other partner in the past year and just before the initial outbreak. I received oral sex from her apparently, it turned out, while she had strep throat. She has only had one other sexual partner and they did not have unprotected sex.

Thanks so much for your time and help.

Haven't biked since I was a boy but thanks for the update anyway. Might pm you when I get a diagnosis also.
So far I have had no breakout but all the symptoms of herpes other than one sore on the rear!

Sounds like you are in the clear on the Herpes front. As with everything it will most likely settle down in time anyway.

Dend,

I saw the urologist today. He felt my initial symptom with the little ulcers was probably just from friction and a small subsequent infection or something of that nature. He said that's not uncommon.

He thought the soreness in the urethra was probably unrelated and that the timeline correlates to right around when I started riding my bike everywhere. The kind of seat I have tends to put pressure on the prostate and can cause pain all the way up through the penis.

This is not a 100% diagnosis. But it is what we are going with right now. I am buying a new bike seat and giving it a month to see if the symptoms go away.

Do you bike much?

I hope this is helpful information for you.

I'd certainly ask for a prostate exam next time you are seen to rule that out too.

could this be all herpes related? no it is not.

Rbot, I have the same near constant urethral pain, driving me bonkers.
I am a bit behind you on the tests but plan on bloods soon. Will you please post your result next week.
Appreciate it.

The urine test was from a week ago and showed nothing unusual. I will get new herpes blood test results back on Monday or Tuesday. They have not checked my prostate.

No I do not currently have a partner.
