I don't know if i have herpes

Ok. I am 23. so awhile back I had unprotected sex with a girl who had been cheating on me with (I believe) multiple people, but at least one I know about. She told me (a few days before I found out she was cheating) she had been tested and was given a clean bill of health. Well for a while now (since December) I have had slightly rough redness on the head of my penis that itches. It started off with my skin flaking off (and it has done it a few times since the first time. I have had psoriasis as a child and I assumed it was that. I also had some red smoother blemishes near the tip. From everything i have read, it sounds like herpes, but from what i understand herpes clears up in a few day or a few weeks at most. this has been like this 3 months. i have been reading on this website of people with similar conditions. i havent been to the doctor yet because i cant afford it and dont have health insurance yet. is there any advise some one can give me?

you need to be seen and get a proper exam done.

thank you both. you have put my mind at ease for now. i have been under so much stress with all of this. i going to see a doctor soon.

and yes the areas are shiny and red. i remember stuff like this happening when i was a kid but after my ex did what she did, i just became really scared and confused.

herpes lesions are not going to stick around relatively unchanged for 3 months. whatever is going on, it's not herpes.

I'd follow up on this with a dermatologist since you have a history of skin issues. It's most likely either dry skin, eczema/psoriasis or even a fungal infection going on.

psoriasis can appear on ur genitals. I have psoriasis and on a few occasions i have had it on my genital area which were present for 4 months. U say they are smooth blemishes which is what psoriasis looks like when present on the genitals. are the smooth areas shiny and very red? If so it sounds like psoriasis but since i cant see it and iam not a doctor i cant be sure. But i was having similar symptoms to u and a dermo looked at them and said it was psoriasis ( i also had the area cultured for herpes which came back negative). I think the best thing u can do is get your doctor to check it out and see what he or she says.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   area
