I gave my boyfriend herpes...did he give it back???

I have oral HSV 1. I normally take Acyclovir for suppression, but about a month ago I ran out of my prescription, developed a cold sore, and transmitted HSV 1 it to my boyfriend via oral sex (which we both thought was impossible.) He is still experiencing his 1st outbreak of genital HSV 1 (contracted from my oral HSV 1) and it has been agonizing for him. Before either of us had any idea that he had contracted herpes from me, we had protected sex during the first part of his outbreak, which I now understand is the most contagious stage. That was about 1 week ago. For the past two days I have experienced intermittent "tingling" feeling in my genitals, very similar to the feeling I get on my mouth before I get a cold sore. And I'm freaking out.

I have the following questions:

-Can I contract genital HSV 1 from my boyfriend if I gave it to him and already have oral HSV 1? Will the antibodies I have prevent the virus from manifesting genitally?

-If I am taking Acyclovir as suppressive therapy for my oral HSV 1, will it prevent me from having symptoms if I contract genital HSV 1 from my boyfriend?

-Can I avoid the initial outbreak of genital HSV 1 if I take the dose of Acyclovir recommended for an active outbreak?

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help!

Hey there, thanks for writing back to me! He is awaiting the results of a type-specific blood test. He got small blisters that erupted into very painful lesions and has been experiencing a lot of back pain and fever. The doctor he went to said that it was herpes, and that even though it is possible he had 2, it is probably 1 because he started having symptoms about one weeks after we had contact when i had an open sore and he had never had any kind of symptoms before that.

Anyway, my body is acting strange. I have been having that tingling sensation in my genital area that comes and goes, and then my mouth started tingling yesterday like i was getting a cold sore. All of a sudden last night blisters erupted all over the right side of the roof of my mouth. They are gone today, without a trace (no pain where the blisters were.)  I am also having lower back pain at night and these weird shooting tingling sensations in my thighs. Like little jolts of electricity is the best way i can describe it. Does anybody have any idea what could be going on???

If you already have HSV 1 and you have now given it to him, he can't give it back to you!! This may be crazy but it is VERY possible he is having an inital HSV2 Outbreak if you already have HSV1 and are now getting herpes symptoms somewhere else! If you already have HSV1, you can't get it again!! It is possible you gave him HSV1 orally if you were having an outbreak but for you to now get herpes symptoms downstairs and already having HSV1, I would seriously look at HSV2 and get him to a Doctor! What specifically are his symptoms?? What kinds of sores is he getting on his penis?
