Does it always appear where it was acquired?

Does herpes always appear on the spot that it was acquired?  My doctor said it was, which is why condoms aren't protective.  He said it wasn't uncommon for him to see herpes start where the condom stopped or whatever, and that herpes appears on the spot that it was acquired.

But if thats true, why does herpes appear on the butt or thigh or ballsack?

It's not an area that is prone to contract herpes. The skin on the penis is not at thick and with the mucous membrane of the Uretra right there, herpes likes to enter there. The skin on the Scrotum is not a place herpes likes to go. the skin is more rougher there and more coarse and hairy but since it is a part of the genitalia that likes to itch a lot, everyone thinks its herpes.

Dont mean to crash another thread but, is it unusual to have recurrences on the scrotum if the initial was on another spot on your body?  I think I remember you saying slacker that scrotum herpes was unusual, why is that?

The INITIAL Outbreak occurs where it entered into the body but Recurrent Infections can happen anywhere served by that nerve ganglion.
