I have HSV2 on the thigh also!

I am confused! I was in a relationship with a man who had HSV2 on his penis (outbreaks). One night however, he gave me lots of love bites (on the buttocks!) Shortly after I got a Herpes outbreak on my left buttock (had the lesion swabbed-HSV2). I had a couple of outbreaks on my buttocks...then nothing. Recently, I had a tiny red bump on my left thigh and I'm sure it was the herpes. Does this mean I can shed much genitally? (I've never had any genital symptoms/legions).

There is a nerve grouping that called a ganglion and it extends from the waist down to the legs. Its called the sacrum ganglion. When herpes is contracted moves from the point of contact down the nerve and resides in the base of the spine. At any given time it moves up any of the one nerve to the surface and is always only on one side at a time and could be any of the nerves including the butt and thigh.
However it most often appears the sore in the same spot, give or take an inch but shedding can be anywhere as is invisible.

That's made me sad : ( So are there actual cases of people with thigh herpes/buttock having sex and it coming out on their partner's actual genitals?

not likely tiny red bumps were your hsv2.  should this reoccurs, be seen within 48 hours of their appearance for an exam. if herpes is suspected, a lesion culture, preferably pcr swab can be done at that time.

herpes lesions on the buttocks and thighs are still genital herpes. you shed from the genital area both with recurrences and periodically in between just like someone who had lesions on their actual genitals does. there is no difference.  you aren't less contagious to others based on the location of your herpes lesions typical ob area. make sense?
