odds are it's something else. continue to be seen as needed.
That is unfortunate.
Sorry, back to my issue- the tingling has lasted in one spot for over a week now, and hasn't resulted in any skin change. Is it unlikely to be herpes then?
unfortunately most of us are raised to be fearful of herpes ( and all std's ) instead of being raised to accept them and understand them. Far easier for us to be told that if you have sex outside of marriage that you'll get herpes and that bleep never goes away in an effort to scare us away from sex than it is to take the time to learn about it and educate us properly. I've never been devastated by my herpes myself and I'm ok with having something a pill or two a day can take care of - so many worse things out there!
One other thing- its more of a social question rather than a medical one- what is with the stigma surrounding herpes? I've seen people having mental breakdowns on this site over finding out they have oral herpes, and yet I've had oral cold sores since I was very young. Almost everyone has sex and if herpes is so common why is it deemed so shameful?
I did get tested for everything else when I last had symptoms (stds, yeast, bv and so on) and everything was negative and the nurse said I had an "incredibly healthy looking vagina and cervix." The lymph node swelling really bothers me as I'm very active and my groin becomes weak when they swell.. Sigh. I wish I could just find out somehow. Thank you for your help though, it is appreciated.
only thing I can suggest is to be seen every time you have symptoms. make sure they properly test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too.
can't help you much with testing if you are in canada. type specific testing is available there if you pay out of pocket. getting providers to order it, whole different ball game :(
Is there anything else that can cause localized tingling in the vaginal area? After the onset of a small rash? (It is EXACTLY like the tingling I have before a cold sore on my lip, but no lesions have come of it).
(The sole burning and swollen lymph nodes in groin has been recurrent, often with vaginal discharge and generalized itchiness, almost like I feel I'm overly moist).
just burning and no obvious genital lesions ( or foot lesions ) likely is something else going on.
if you are in the US, you can order up your own herpes igg blood test to get answers for once and for all so you can stop worrying about herpes.
I understand, it's just that with a question I'd asked in the expert forums the doctor told me that burning in the soles of feet is NOT a symptom of herpes regardless off lesions and is an internet myth.
I'm having a bit of trouble lately as I've asked for a herpes blood test but the doctor told me I don't need it. I'm too shy of a person to press anyone and I just don't have the confidence to go back all guns blazing and demand a test. I'd posted earlier about symptoms and never had an actual lesion, but I still have odd things happening to me.
Last week my lymph nodes swelled up to the point I couldn't go to the gym, the sole of my right foot began to burn, and one day in the shower I saw a dime sized red spot on my outer labia beside my clitoris. It didn't hurt or itch (and I know when I have facial cold sores they hurt to the touch). This red spot was gone within 24 hours but has been followed by almost constant tingling in that area. I know tingling is something that PRECEDES an outbreak- what's going on with me? :(
it can cause those symptoms prior to an ob. I think what is confusing you when you read the experts here replies is when folks only have those symptoms and nothing else and convince themselves that it has to be herpes related?
typically a prodromal symptom only lasts a day or two prior to an ob.
