IgG HSV1 affects HSV2 results?

I am a guy and I had the IGG tests done for both HSV 1 and 2 about 4 months after my first sexual encounter/abuse(it's a long story). It was oral sex that I received. My result for HSV1 was 1.90 and HSV2 1.30. If I am not mistaken, I read that having HSV1 can cause the result of the HSV2 test to be inaccurate? Is that true? And my positives are rather low. Please advice if it could be a false positive?

Thank you Ms. Grace. I really appreciate your time and support. I shall let all this sink in and then decide what to do. Meanwhile maybe I have some hope. Maybe I am clean.

Thank you,
V

really nothing else I can add that I haven't already said to be honest. it's unlikely you have hsv2. it is likely that you have a false positive hsv2 result.

Found the reply by Dr. Huntsfield. He said if there is a low positive value for both HSV1 and HSV2, it could be a false positive?

Thanks

Well Ms. Grace, thank you very much for answering my questions. You did make me feel a bit better.

Also, I read somewhere that the values of the IgG doesn't really correlate to whether you have a 'serious HSV" or a 'minor' one. And that the values are random. Is that true? I think Dr. Huntsfield posted it somewhere.

I am still wondering about what my low value means. Could it mean that I am simply exposed to the antibodies but not the virus? Or something?

Thank you

I see. Thank you Ms. Grace.

You know. All my life I have practised abstinence. I want to save myself for marriage for some reason. And just have one sex partner which was supposed to be my wife. But right now in my mind, I have HSV2. But there's a part of me that really wishes/hopes/begs/prays that I don't.

In case people do read this they can protect themselves.

It all started when I noticed I had axiliary trichomicosis(google if you need). So I went to look for a place in my area to wax the hair in my underarms. I found a place. The shop owner did the waxing, after that he proceeded to tell me about brazilian waxing. I reluctantly tried it. I found it to be very hygenic and went back for subsequent sessions. After each session, unknown to me, the waxer was over touching me when applying the after wax creams.

On the very last session when I went there, the incident occurred. I felt rather helpless on the waxing bed, being naked and a little shy. Then he took out his fleshlight and lubed it up. Then proceeded to use it on me. I don't know why I didn't react then. I guess I was afraid of what would happen if I reacted. I don't know. I didn't know what to do. One thing led to another and he performed oral sex and kept a conversation going, trying to make me feel comfortable. I was in a bit of a shock. Thinking to myself "Omg. WTF. My first sexual experience with this guy? What am I to do? What?! Damn!" but I just could not take the actions that I wish I had taken.

He performed oral sex for about a minute each time. Once when I was lying down and another when I stood up ready to get dressed. Too much detail? Well I guess people reading this could also learn from this and not allow themselves to be manipulated. I am young, ignorant and naive. I really regret letting this happen to me.

if you haven't had any symptoms of herpes, odds are you didn't contract hsv1 genitally from this encounter.

the sex toy wasn't a risk for you either .

honestly your hsv2 igg is so low and with you not having had other encounters before this, it's probably not even worth confirmatory testing probably since it's incredibly unlikely you really do have hsv2.  totally up to you.

Hi again Ms Grace.

I do not recall ever having cold sores. I am 21 and have never had any sexual encounter. It's a long story how this happened, if you want I can elaborate further. But to keep it short, I was lying down in a place and the person just took the sex toy from a shelf and used it on me. Then he performed oral sex. I was not able to react due to certain reasons. The person also performed oral sex for no more than 2 minutes. He cleaned off his saliva with his mouth (sick I know) but it was a few hours before I had a chance to shower that off. Then I showered thoroughly. By the way, I am straight.

I appreciate your time a lot!

if the sex toy was used on the partner and then used on you in that same encounter, it could be a risk but if it was just used previously ( hopefully they had cleaned it properly with soap and water after last use but even if they didn't, any virus on it dries within a day or less ), it's not an issue for transmission. does that make sense?

the false positive testing issues are a known issue with herpes testing which is why we recommend further confirmatory testing with low positives regardless of if you have hsv1 or not.

we don't have stats for the likelihood of contracting hsv1 genitally from a one time oral sex encounter.  It happens but still overall the risk of such is low. usually when you contract hsv1 genitally, it presents with pretty obvious and "classic" symptoms , of which you haven't had any. Do you recall ever having had any cold sores before?

keep asking questions :)

Thank you for your reply Ms. Grace. Do you know what are the chances for getting HSV from oral sex? I heard for HIV it's 1 in 10000. But just to add... the person also used a male sex toy known as a fleshlight on me. Will that carry the virus? This is emotionally and psychologically torturing.

Do you know about how the HSV1 results affect the HSV2 results? Was my result low because it's recent? Will it increase over the years if I am infected?

Thanks again

your hsv2 is indeed a low positive and needs confirmed with additional confirmatory testing. you can try to get your provider to order a herpes WB blood test for you or even the quest inhibition assay if they use quest labs.

you aren't likely to contract hsv2 from oral sex either.

I don't wish to lie to myself or be in denial, somehow I feel I am giving myself false hope. But I want to clarify this. What happened to me was really fked up. Forgive my language. I have never had any sexual encounter because I believed in sex after marriage... and sht happened.

Anyway thanks Ms. Grace and others for answering so many questions that I read before posting here.

Well... I have never really had symptoms that resemble herpes just to add. It's been about 4-5 months already since that dreaded incident. Will my HSV IgG results increase over the years if I have herpes? Why is it a low positive? Because it was recent?
