My concerns were that i have 2 very small things the size of a pin hole on my penis that at week 8 after exposure started to bother me. It lasted 2 days. They never progress to anything more than what they are now. The doc at the std clinic checked them out and said those are swet glands, and sometime they get irritated. That is why i had some doubts i have hsv2, also i was certain i have hsv1, igg test value at 13, but no symptoms, so i thought i coud have hsv2 without symptoms either. So i just wanted to be sure im clear on hsv2.
Thanks for your imput here in this forum. It gives so much relive to so many people.
You wouldn't have tested positive ten days after exposure. The odds are this is probably a false positive. Especially when the biokit was negative both times. Hsv2 tests are sensitive and can pick up hsv1 antibodies. It's pretty common.
Hi everyone, i wanted to update you after being diagnosed positive for hsv2 with no outbreaks, and the positive being at value 1.48, i went and did the western blot test. It come negative for hsv2, and positive for hsv1, which i have never had any cold sores or anything on my lips.
I went to Seattle for the test. I could not find any lab to draw blood, spin it and give it to me, so i can send it to UW. My primary doc said they do not draw blood at thair ofice, and sent me to labcorp, where they said it is against their policy to give blood to patients. I called several other labs but they all said no way thay can give the blood to me. And especially when they hear my accent who knows what they think. They all wanted to convince me that the test they do is acurate and they will thest me for hsv. This is another prove how little they know about hsv and hsv testing. I guess i should go to another doc. Anyway, if someone has to go to Seatlle for the western blot test, you can not go to University of Washington, unless you are resident of the state. They can only send you the kit, than you find someone to draw bloo and spin it for you, and you send it back to UW, following precisely the instructions provided with the kit. But there is another std clinic that does the western blot test, its called Horbourview std clinic of Seattle. I think somehow they are conected to the UW virology center.
I know its expensive if you have to go there. Between plane ticket, rent a car, hotel, 2 days out of work, and the test cost me $2000. But there is no price for the stress i had to go trough. Now after few months of constant stress about it i can concentrate on my job and make those money back.
P.S. I also did 7 biokit hsv2 rapid test, all negative. The doc at the Seattle's clinic said it is very good test, it is specific for hsv2. To get one is not expensive, and the resault is almost immediately, 10-15 min. The problem is there is only one place you can get it from, and it comes only in a box of 20, which cost $700.
I wish good luck to anyone with low positive to turn out to be false positive (negative).
Sounds good. I know quest used to do it but won't anymore.
No supplements will effect the western blot. It's a shame they don't send the kits anymore. I wish you the best and please keep us posted. We're here if you need anything.
Ten days is to soon for a positive hsv test. So it's very clear you have a long established hsv1 infection. Hsv2 igg tests are very sensitive and you are probably getting cross over from your hsv1 giving you a false negative for hsv2. I am very surprised your Dr didn't perform a swab test on the area of concern. The biokit rapid test is used as a confirmation test and the fact they came back negative is a good sign. Another good sign is the hsv2 value isn't really growing. I would be surprised if you actually have hsv2.
I would get the western blot at 16 weeks. I'm betting it comes back negative for hsv2. You can see about a swab tests if the bumps are still there.
