Increasing trend of HSV 1 igg

Hello, Around 1 year ago I was having balanitis at the scortum of the penis. It used go away and return back. I was deteced with HSV1 positive with igg value 5.1. I was was also detected pre diabetic with Ha1bc 8.5 and SGOT and way high at 220.  I was kept under Acyclovir 400 gms thrice a day. It worked. After 3 weeks I was told to reduce the dosage to 2 times a day and do the test again after 3 months. After 3 months my diabetic condition was better controlled at ha1bc 6.4. An i did not have any outbreak of the HSV 1. But the second test after 3 months had a increased igg value from 5.1 to 6.3. I was adivsed to continue 400gm of acyclovir 2 a day and run the test again afeter 3 months. I was simultaneous also chekcing for ha1bc. after 3 months that is now, h1abc is great at 5.4, SGOT normal, liver no issues, cholestrol good. Only that again the igg values increased to 7.2 from 6.3. I am advised now to increase acyclovir dosage to 3 times a day and have levamisole hydrochloride 75 gms twice a week for another 3 months and check for HSV1 igg again. Please let me know am I on the right path to control herpes, what is the increasing trend in hsv 1 igg signify. My sugar, liver and kidney have normal results now.

Pls help

Glad you are working to keep your blood glucose under good control that your ha1c is going down :)

the changing values of your hsv1 igg are meaningless as mistakeguy already pointed out. You are positive and they will stay positive for a lifetime regardless of any medication you take.  Up to you if you want to even treat your hsv1 since from the sounds of your post, you don't know if it's oral or genital but aren't being bothered with obvious symptoms in either location at all.

Suppressive therapy doses with acyclovir are 400mg 2x/day. You up it to 3x/day for 4 days when you have obvious symptoms, of which you've had none.

keep asking questions!

The values of HSV-1 igg testing don't matter when you are dealing with a negative or a positive.  Those numbers will change regardless.  You can use the same blood sample and run the test 100 times and that number will change.  The change doesn't mean you have more or less herpes.  You will never fight off HSV it is a life long virus.

Give grace a chance to look at the dosage I am not really knowledgeable on that but please confirm that you were told 400mgs and not 400g.  There is a big difference in the two.
