Is it HSV or another infection?

Hi,

I am a 24 year old male living in the UK.

I had protected sex over a week ago however I found a tear in the condom. It was a new partner and it was quite rough (i recall feeling pain at the time) so I originally felt a small scratch the following day and thought nothing of it. A few days later this became pusy and then I noticed 4 smaller spots around the base of my foreskin. 2 small spots later developed at the base of my penis where the condom would have rolled to. I also began to find it painful to urinate.

My partner has no history of cold sores and does not beleive she has ever had/has any stds.

I have been to a clinic and when I told them I had unprotected oral sex they figured it was herpes however I have a week wait on the urine and blood tests.

My partner also had some trouble with her works and went to the gynagologist and was told she has a bladder infection but otherwise appears fine. (no blood or urine results)

Could it be possible that rough sex lead to small abrasions which have now become infected however arn't a std/herpes? It was also a new brand of condom so am hoping it is a reaction/non serious infection.

8 days after contact my lympnodes in my legs/groin are working overtime and this was 4 days after I started taking Aciclovir & Doxcycline.

Thanks for your advice and help. I have learned alot since my partial diagnosis through websites.

Cheers,

At this point waiting for test results to come back is the best you can do. Hang in there - I know it's tough!

So they didn't do a lesion culture - just blood tests and urine tests?

At this point I recommend that the gal you were with also get a type specific herpes igg blood test herself. Since you are in the uk, she's probably going to have to go to a private clinic for this and not a gum clinic. From what I've found on the boards over the years most gum clinics do not offer type specific herpes igg blood testing.  Depending on where you were seen, you probably didn't get any worthwhile herpes blood testing done either ( which at this point would just be a baseline igg test anyways to see what your status was going into all this - no blood test will tell you if you just recently contracted herpes ).
