I totally 2nd andreab's post - could be coincidence or it could be that it really is herpes. at this not much to do but wait for test results to come back.
hang in there!

Just because the red patch is clearing up does not necessarily mean it is due to Valtrex.
It could have been irritation from your underwear, soap, etc. that needed time to go away.
I would wait until you get your results and stop speculating!
You are going to worry yourself sick. And really, herpes is not a big deal anymore.
Just to ask a question from a slightly different perspective of this situation... I have yet to hear my results but when my doctor made the assumption that it may be herpes, he did put me on Valtrex. It has now been four days and the area looks slightly less red and irritated.. Is there any way that another virus or infection could respond to Valtrex, or does that essentially prove that that is what I have?
it sounds like he was doing a proper work up. I wouldn't worry about that part. also trust me, they see tons of genitals at the campus clinics and know normal from not normal.
At this point wait and see what your test results are. do you know if your current partner has ever had cold sores or not? also do you know if you've ever had a herpes blood test ever before?

He looked at the discharge under a microscope and said it didn't appear to look like yeast. Otherwise, no other bacterial infections were tested for as far as I know. (This man was also not a gynecologist, so that makes me somewhat nervous). I do, now, have a regular partner who has only been with me in his life. However, I found out my ex had cheated on me, although he will not admit to it.
Did they also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too?
do you have a regular partner? have they had std testing that also included herpes testing?
