Is it herpes

So my girlfriend beilieved she had an STD. She said that they were bumps around her labia. She got tested and had a negative result. The bumps were no longer there when she got tested however. So we didnt truely have sex but rubed our genitals together and 2 days later I have come down with a sore throat and now im physcing myself out thinking I have herpes. My scrotum is a little red and somewhat itchy, but that may because im thinking about it, who knows. I know 'flu like symptoms' occur with herpes but is sore throat included with that. And would I get these flu like symptoms before I got any sores? It's three days after potential contact and no sores. Just a sore throat

you need to be seen and get examined. this could be many things but odds are it isn't due to herpes.

A pap test doesn't test for herpes. It also doesn't test for external genital warts either.  Most pap tests don't test for hpv infections on the cervix either or any other std's.

You and your gf need proper std testing. odds are neither of you have ever had herpes testing either before so definitely make sure you get type specific herpes igg blood tests done to cover those bases too.

did they test your gf for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too when she was seen?

Have both you and your partner been tested for herpes? If not, that's your next step. An IgG type specific blood test is what's recommended for herpes testing.

No reason to think of herpes as the cause for a sore throat at this point.

Correction:

Washing up after sex does nothing more than make you smell nice and clean. The virus works its way into the body during the sex act itself.  After sex is over, it's too late to make a difference. If washing was a way to prevent transmission/infection, it would surely be recommended.

Valtrex doesn't just treat outbreaks; it also reduces viral shedding by 80-90%, making it highly effective at reducing transmission!

Hey, thanks for the response. I wore a condom as soon as the cloths came off. Its not my penis that itches its my scrotum. And she got tested for herpes but I dont believe it was a blood test, so it was just a pap smear.

HSV doesn't usually transmit that fast.  If she had the bumps and you rubbed then yes.  If she did not have a herpes specific blood test then she has NOT been tested for herpes.  Lots of doctors misdiagnose it as just a rash and so on.
She could also have warts which is HPV.  She can also be tested for that by her gyn in by a pap test.
Your symptoms can come from herpes.  You don't typically turn red and itch.  That sounds like a yeast infection.  You can go get tested-get a blood test for ALL STDs and then ask for a herpes test too.  If you don't see bumps you can try to self medicate in case it's yeast by just purchasing a tube of monistat and coating yourself.  BUT she needs to treat herself too.
Lastly, since YOU BOTH KNOW she has SOMETHING, you need to wear a condom as soon as the clothes come off.  If you don't you at least need to shower and wash your entire genital area with soap and water.  Also, valtrex will not prevent the spread it just treats the outbreak.
