Ok.
Thanks Grace..
Again, sorry for the random and multi-posted questions.
Sorry - I am not trying to step on any feet. I tend to ramble.
The reason i asked about the bandaid is because if technically a condom reduces transmission by 50% (Except if it isn't covering the spot in which you get an outbreak usually) Then you would think that something covering it that locks germs in would do the same job.
it's most helpful when you just keep adding this all in one post. thank you for your future cooperation with this.
has your partner been tested yet?
no, placing a band aid over where you tend to get recurrences isn't helpful at all. also you are just as contagious as someone who gets ob's on their actual penis - no difference in rates of transmission based on where you get symptoms.
Well, one more i guess.
If transmission rates with no symptoms are 8-10% from male to uninfected female and
minus -50% with valtrex - that would make 4-5% chance of transmission without symptoms correct?
If the location of the outbreak is not on the penis - does this reduce chance further because the skin is not near the inside of the vagina?
(i.e why i asked about the square shaped bandaid).
anyhow, im stressing out as you can see because i have a new partner and i want to be able to protect her as much as possible and i dont think condoms will help with my situation.
you can get the risk to a female partner down to 2-3%/year. Very reasonable without doing anything more than avoiding sex during any genital symptoms, daily suppressive therapy with valtrex and using condoms for sex.
certainly talk to your new partner about all std's and testing, not just the herpes you know you have.
