HEPRES INHIBITION TEST

OKAY FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS I HAVE BEEN FREAKING OUT ...I have had extreme itching for 2 months ...me panicking I get a Hsv2 test ...after seeing my rash on my scrotum the doctor said it was jock itch ...but the hsv2 test came back fade positive ...it was 1.17 then negative on the inhibition ....1 month lata she wanted me to retest ...the results were 1.37 and negative on the inhibition ...I always wear condoms my last time having sex with no condom was maybe a year ago and it was with a female I dated she never had sores or anything ...my question is why do I continuously get false positives and should I be worried ....my only rash is the one on the side of my scrotum in the folds as they say ....and it lead it up to my but folds also itching to the point of pain....is this related to the hsv2 test ?? And reason for false positive???

Makes it even more likely these are false positives with the negative inhibitions.

Odds are these are false positives you are experiencing.  I'd follow up with a herpes WB blood test just to know for sure.

why do you keep getting low positives? For some folks it's because they have hsv1 and for others it's because something in their blood causes them ( we don't know exactly why 100% yet ).

Herpes would not give you itching for 2 months like this. No reason to doubt your jock itch diagnosis.

Your symptoms are not those of herpes, so that gives no cause for concern.

Are teh 1.17 and 1.37 values from an IgG type specific test for HSV2? If so these are very low positives and have a hugh chance of being false positives. This would be consistent with having no clear herpes symptoms. I am not sure about the inhibition test you refer to, but suspect it confirms the negative status.
