Is this herpes?

About 5 months ago I received oral sex from a partner. Shortly after the encounter I began to feel like a itch on the shaft of my penis. I didn't think nothing of it so I didn't worry about it. A day of so later I started to feel pain in my urethra and prostatic area. The pain in the urethra was like a sharp stabbing pain and the pain in the prostate/ anal area felt like a stinging or burning sensation. I went to get tested and I had a urinalysis done. The doctor said I had white blood cells in my urine so she gave me a prescription for doxycycline to help treat clamydia even before my results came back. I wasn't satisfied with what the doctor said so I went to another doctor the same day and got tested again. Described he symptoms and she told me to take the doxycycline. I took the medicine and the test results came back negative. I was happy about the results and thought everything was cool. After I took the doxycycline I still was having symptoms. I went back to the doctor and he said it might be prostatitis. He then told me to take ciproflaxin for 14 days. I took that and the pain still didn't go away. That doctor them told me to go see a urologist. Talked to the urologist and he said it looks like a little inflammation and gave me a prescription for Tylenol. I took the Tylenol and that still didn't help. All this happened within 6 weeks. I started looking up what the problem could be and I started to see so many people talking about herpes. Since I had no bumps or lesions I didn't consider it to be a possibility. I went to get tested and the results came back negative. I was relieved about that but then I read that you should wait about 3 to 5 months for testing because your body may not have formed antibodies yet. The pain that I am experiencing now is a stinging or burning sensation on the back of my thighs. That same sensation on my calves and anal area and left testicle pain. Every doctor says that this doesn't sound like herpes but I can never get an answer to what the cause could be. I just took another test about 5 days ago and got a phone call today. He said the I was a .91 and I fell in the equivocal range. This is after 5 months when my first test was < .91. I proceeding to ask him questions to only find out that they gave me an igm test this time instead of an Igg test. I am very frustrated and don't have a clue to what could cause these strang nerve sensations in my legs and the testicle pain that I am experiencing. If someone has an answer can you please help me out a little. Thanks

Hi.  sorry i missed you post on the 30/11.  I've been experiencing the same issues i wrote about in September so 7 months in total.  It hasn't stopped me from doing anything and i'm as active as I was before this issue arose.

It's very interesting to hear what you say about the antibiotics.  I'd been on them for months before the issues started but never considered they could be a contributory factor.  Was Doxcycline one of the antibiotics you took? I had a course of these in July '15 and may have been before my thigh problems started..

I had an HSV test 5 and a half months after possible exposure and it came back negative for 2, positive for 1, so i've convinced myself that i must have that genitally.  All the doctors i've seen have said that you can't get HSV1 genitally if you've had it orally.  but googling it it's very easy to find an account of someone who claims to have...

It's still causing me a lot of concern.  The burning sensation seems to come and go and replaced with a pulling sensation or chapped skin, as if it's got really ice cold and then started to warm up quickly.. difficult to explain.

How is the Candida diet going for you? did it/has it worked out any better since sticking to it?  I'm going to try cutting down on yeast and sugar and see if this helps..  I'll post back with an update.

Hey man what's up? I'm still having these same weird symptoms as well. The back of my leg seems to burn, I have a strange feeling in my gut, occasional pain in my left testicle, and random muscle twitching. I've also had really dry skin down there and chafing. Yes one of the antibiotics I took was doxycycline. I also took ciproflaxin and one more antibiotic. It's been so long I forgot which one it was. I got tested again sometime last year and it still came up negative. I just decided to not worry about it. It may be a side effect of one one those antibiotics but I'm not sure. Hope everything is good with you

Hey man what's up? I haven't been on the site because I convinced myself that maybe all the reading and stress can be causing my symptoms. As far as the strange symptoms I've been experiencing, they are still present. Off and on tho. I took the hsv test after five months and it still came back negative. I think my problem stems from all of the antibiotics that I was given. Over the course of 2 months I was on 4 different antibiotics. The initial symptoms I went for are not what's my problem is now. My symptoms now are slight testical pain(left), that strange sensation on the back of my thighs that seems to move around, and now the most annoying is the strange muscle twitches all over my body. The twitches are random and they go from my leg, arm, face, and my eye. So what I think the problem  related to is a candida overgrowth from the antibiotics. I'm not a doctor or anything but the things that I tried helped a lot. I went to a herbal store and purchased an antfungal detox that I took daily and a probiotic that I also took daily. I cut out all sugars, bread, fruits, and anything that can be yeast related. I took the medicine and my sensations and symptoms seemed to subside. To test it out I went back to my old diet and noticed my symptoms started coming back. That's why I'm experiencing the symptoms again. When I stuck to a strict candida diet, the twitching and the burning sensation felt as if they were going away. I just started my candida diet back up and I will see if this helps. I have medical insurance now and will go back to the doctor to get more test done to see what's going on. But for now I'm going to try this candida diet again.

Hi There.  I too have a similar issue with leg pains at the moment.  after 3 months since unprotected oral i've got this constant burning sensation in both thighs that seems to move around.  it's from the knee up to the groin area, never in the same area for long.

It feels like hot sparks or something moving around under the skin.  it's not overly painful simply annoying.  I too have this fear of herpes but without any blisters or lesions appearing i'm starting think that it is simply anxiety related.  Nothing else makes sense.

I've been to GUM clinic 3 times and although i have not had any blood tests, all different doctors and nurses i’ve seen have stated it's not herpes.  One of the pro's was a very experienced consultant.  He said it was anxiety related, that i've read that thigh pain is a result of herpes and i've managed to convince myself that i have got it.

It seems, from what i've read that herpes from oral is highly unlikely but that anxiety related pains are quite common.

After 3 months of hell i'm going with the anxiety prognosis and trying not to worry about it.  One thing i tried yesterday was to put a little bit of Timodine cream on the area of skin that was most sore.  this seemed to have an almost immediate effect and soothed the area.  I'm not sure if this is a placebo effect or maybe the anxiety is perhaps a small fungal infection that Timodine is supposed to help with..

like you I’m not sure what’s going on.  i’m not the sort of person who generally worries and usually just gets on with things.  Anxiety related pains and issues are not something i’d ever think i’d be susceptible to.  But speaking about it to a mate of mine who has a similar slightly warped ‘moral compass’ he has also had similar issues, although he had been treated for gonorrhoea, the symptoms kept recurring. The Dr at the time told him it would pass as there was no sign of any infection.  Sure enough, after a couple of months of de-stress, the symptoms he was feeling went away.

I’ve still got the herpes idea in the back of my mind and every time i feel a sensation it seems then to get worse, as i start to think the worst..

Thanks again for your response. The strang sensations feels like a constant burn or tingling sensation in my legs. The back of the thighs feel more like the burning sensation and in the calves is more of the tingling sensation. I have been following a lot of threads since my encounter and read a lot of things from you and grace. I kept the anxiety thing in mind and I make sure to not constantly check my penis. I hardly ever look at it even when I have these sensations. I told myself unless I saw obvious blisters I was gonna just forget about it. So I'm gonna just get off the herpes horse I guess and assume it may be a prostate issue. Maybe a bacteria made its way to my prostate and is causing these symptoms. I see a lot of people going through the same thing I describe on forums but I never see anyone have an answer to what they are going through.

I dont know what a strange leg sensation is. The penis tip irritation is most likely from you checking it too much and a sting in the anal area could be hemorrhoids.

Just an update. I got tested again for hsv1 and hsv2 again after 5 months of my oral sex encounter. The igg test came back negative for hsv1 and hsv2. I'm relieved and ready to move on from this situation. I'm still having the strange sensations in my legs, occasional sting at the tip of urethra, and a occasional sting or discomfort in the anal region. I have no insurance and I just wanna know what direction should I go if this isn't herpes. Thanks

Thank you for your fast response. As far as anxiety goes I have been living life as normal as possible. I kind of accepted the fact that I was gonna just have this radiating leg pain so I don't think it's anxiety. I forgot to add that I have and occasional sting or itch at the top of my urethra and something that feels like a cramp in my abdomen. None of these symptoms were present until after my oral encounter. I currently have a girlfriend whom I have been having sex with and she has not exhibited any symptoms that I know of. the doctor tried to say that it was genitally focused anxiety but I disagree. That was not the first time that I stepped out on someone in a relationship but it's definitely the last. I talked to the girl that performed the oral sex on me and she went and got tested also. She never showed me the results but she told me that she tested negative for hsv1 and hsv2. I've kind of ruled out herpes myself because my test was negative but with the symptoms still present its making me rethink ruling it out. The doctor is supposed to let me retake the test because I specifically asked for a type specific test and they didn't give me that test. My question to you is what else could cause these strang nerve sensations without any discharge, any bumps, or any lesions? I don't have a rash present either. It just always feels as if I have something in my urethra. It's like the feeling when you urinate and there is still a little trapped inside the urethra. I so took flomax for that and that didn't really do anything. I just wish I could get pointed in the right direction on who to talk to or what kind of doctor to see. It's just amazing to me that all these symptoms are happening after receiving oral sex. Again thanks for the response

Hi, first of all, no STD like chlamydia and gono would show symptoms the next day or even 2 or 3 days. Takes about 5 for any symptoms to appear that woud bother you like buring urethra or a puss discharge. so you can rule out those. Since first time herpes appears at point of contact, any interior urethra issues would not be related. You would have sores and such on your shaft.

Your constant leg pain would no be associated with herpes either nor is the testicle pain. Some times constant checking and pulling and throw in anxiety, could cause your symptoms.

Things more common from oral sex are UTI,s as bacteria common in saliva are not common inside the urethra.
