Some people do. I understand the anxiety you feel. Your number is so low I would be very surprised if you actually have hsv2. I spoke with a lab tech from the university of Washington and he told me when the numbers are that small the test saw something but has no idea what. In other words it is not confident that it saw antibodies. I really would look into the western blot. That test will sort it out. Again your number is very low and you have a very good posibility of a false positive.
Please don't get to depressed over this. Work on getting an answer from a proper test.
Good luck and let me know if you need help with the wester blot
Do most people stay low positive or do they convert to the >5 number?
I know that index value does not tell when you were exposed but doesn't the number usually go up the longer you have had it?
Being alone with my thoughts is the hardest thing right now.
It is possible but it's also possible you don't have hsv 2. I know NY makes things difficult with the WB test but I know of people who have accomplished it. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Thank you for your answer. I can't even describe how I feel. I live in NYC and I'm not sure whether you can have it done here. I didn't tell my MD. I registered with stdtest.com paid cash and used a fake name to take the test.
Is it possible that I could just be one of those people who is going to be a low positive forever if I do have it?
Anything lower than a 3.5 needs a confirmation test. I recommend you get a western blot test from the universaty or Washington. You can contact them and they will send you a kit. Have your Dr or lab draw the blood and semd it back to them.
It's usually a 50/50 for low false possitives.
